Grant's hands shook as he stared at the divorce settlement agreement. "I won't sign it. I'd rather die!" He shook his head wildly, his voice cracking. "Ellie, we were married for three years. You can't be this heartless. Call the money a loan, and I'll pay you back double. I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to you. Just don't divorce me." His groveling might have moved me once. Now it only disgusted me. I opened a recording I had saved on my phone, turned the volume all the way up, and played it for everyone.
