Rey's Heart

CHAPTER 15

"Hey," 

"Hey."

"Do you want to talk?" Eyken asked and she just reached out for his right hand.

"You are warm." Rey smiled lovingly and shook her head for a second. "This, this is enough."

"I am here whenever you are ready." He kissed her forehead and for a moment they locked eyes but Eyken diverted his attention back to the room where the other four humans sat, Renix standing right beside them and as Rey let go of his hand she took one look at him and then sighed keeping her attention towards the main problem that had been laid by Halsey.

"Rey, my dad said that no one is safe, he is sure that all the other communitues are working together to avenge what happened yesterday." Halsey spoke up directly to her.

"How severe is the damage?" Rey asked her.

"Um! They dont have a protection wall anymore."

"How many did they lose?" Rey asked dreading what would come next.

"Ten or more." Eli answered. "But it wasn't your faul-t." He wanted to add.

"Don't bother assuring me, it was my fault." But Rey cut him off.

"Your fault?"

Rey looked up to see her cousin's puzzled face only three people knew exactly what it meant for Rey to admit something, what it meant to her personally and so she closed her eyes but opened them ubruptly carefully explaining every detail of everything that had transpired before her fiance and Renix arrived, for them to grasp what she meant she left no details of the furst time she was unable to control her anger, the link she had broken, her grandmother's warning to her and lastly why Vee had disappeared ln her.

"Am really sorry but I'll fix this." Rey apoke but directly to Renix. "I promise." She added.

"I hope you do Rey, I really do hope you fix everything." Renix answered her and then she faced them all, briefly explaining that she would take it upon herself to be of help, of any help, the human people had lost people because of her, she'd put the people who gave her a home in danger and she blamed herself for that, she blamed her new found powers for everything she wanted to promise everyone reassure herself that they will never agian be the cause of any bodily harm but she couldn't, Vee had left because of the same thing and although it was enough to know she would get her back, it wasn't enough for her to know if what had happened wouldn't happen again.

"Hey Rey." Halsey while walking out Rey,Renix and Eyken she called out to her and so Rey hung back signaling for the other two to waut for her.

"Is something wrong?" Rey asked her once at the entrance of the house where she stood.

"Not really." Halsey shook her head.

"Then?"

"My dad says thank you."

"Even if I am the reason why you guys are headed to war?" Curious Rey asked her and Halsey just smiled.

"Yes, even so. Not everyone takes responsibilities for their own actions."

"I won't leave until you guys are all safe." Rey reassured her.

"You'll be leaving?" Halsey asked.

"Yes, I already got my ride back home and there is no place I'd rather be."

"Whatever happens after this." Halsey said softly stretched out her hand towards Rey. "It was really nice meeting you." She added shaking hers. 

"It was nice to meet you too." Rey let go a slight smile on her face it was nice to fing common ground with Halsey after weeks of butting heads and in a way Vee was right Halsey was like her, human but like her in so many ways and no matter what was going to happen before leaving Rey would let everyone know how important Halsey's position was in her own home.

"Will you be joining us?" She asked her.

"Eli, Haley and Ellen will help you guys with touring your fiancé and your cousin I'll see you sometime later, I have a meeting with dad." Halsey explained and then she chuckled.

"What?" Rey raised an eyebrow at her.

"See that?" She pointed towards Ellen who was stuffing her hands in and out her brown leathered jacket.

"Yeah." Rey shrugged.

"She only does that when she is tensed."

"But she only has her eyes on Eyken and Renix."

"Exactly and I know you know who she is not uncomfortable with."

"My cousin?" Rey asked.

"My mouth is sealed." She smiled. "I've got to go now."

"O-Okay." Rey said not paying attention to Halsey at all.

"You okay?" Halsey walked a little bit closer to her. "Rey,"

They had only locked eyes for just a second and in the worst wa possible, Rey read what she didn't expect, atleast no one would.

She had felt that Eyeken was hiding something from her, she had known all her life that Eyken's powers had manifested when he was much younger, he was from a different place after all, but she wondered why never mentioned that he had gained something else, something only his kind of race would experience but the problem, only two people had that kind of power and she knew they had been dimmed the most evil for generations and generations.

That would have been the only one possible reason why she was there if she hadn't used any space ship when she found herself on earth, someone strong enough to teleport her from a different earth, someone who was able to time travel but she knew, Rey knew she had never seen him do that.

"HE CANNOT TIME TRAVEL!" She said so much anger in her statement and she looked at him and he noticed. "Why?" She walked to him immediately sensing something was wrong Renix got the others further away from him.

"Tell me why?"

She slowly closed her right hand in a fist and let go, she had done that before and she knew what would come next and so she threw it, one blast that almost caught him, he hadn't moved nor used his power to shield himself, that was one of the ones she knew he had and Rey felt her heart beat, a litte bit faster than it was supposed to but instead of controlling it, the only way she knew how she let the fire in her cool off and then she focused on him, with both her hands stretched out she slowly began to close them. 

"How far will you go?" She heard just from within, she'd recognise that voice anywhere and though it was distant, she knew it at heart, her grandmother's. 

"As far as I need to." Without hesitation she answered.
