Chapter five

Tirsynthe stared at the growing dagger sitting in the corner, stained with Seonnyre's blood.Just looking at it made her feel nauseous.

And that was inside her, growing. Like a parasite.

And grenaryianes did that to her. My kind put that in her. She scrunched her eyes shut with a stifled gag.

"Quit looking at it."Seonnyre muttered half awake. Luckily for immorality, her injury healed over within a couple of days.

"Can we get rid of it, please, Cave?"

She rolled her eyes and got up. Caverne took the dagger and threw it outside, before laying back down in the same spot as before. "There, now go to sleep."

Tirsynthe looked outside, staring intently at the clear blue sky.

"But it's noon."

"She's not nocturnal, Cave."

Caverne spread her wing, motioning for Tirsynthe to go underneath. "Come on."

Tirsynthe crawled under Cave's wing, where she was covered in darkness, being silenced.

"Be quiet, go to bed."

"But I'm not tired." She answered, her voice muffled.

"Too bad. Go to sleep."

Seonnyre

She rolled over with a wince. The gaping hole that was in her lower abdomen had healed over, but something was wrong, internally. Like how she was in agonizing pain whenever she shifted. She'd been trying, for weeks to hide her pain, and it was working. Tirsynthe wasn't suspecting a thing, but Cave. Caverne could sense it. She could sense something was wrong, but she kept it secret, for Tirsynthe's sake.

Gentle talons shook her shoulder and whispered. "Seonnyre, you okay?"

"Hmm?" She acknowledged without opening her eyes.

"Are you okay?"

"Mhm."

"Are you sure?"

Caverne lifted her head up, glaring at her.

"She's fine, Tirsynthe! Stop asking!"

"I'm - I'm sorry. "

Seonnyre sat up with a wince. "It's fine, Cave. She's just worried, but there's no reason to be. I promise."

Caverne looked skeptical. The faint sound of claws tapping along the stone. Seonnyre got up slowly right along with her just not as swiftly. So she wasn't the only one who heard it. They were coming towards them.
