Chapter 10

Garrett's POV

Marcus stares at me for a few minutes before he answers, “your mate? Are you positive Alpha?” I scowl at him letting out a low growl that comes straight from Dominic for the disrespect of my beta thinking we wouldnt know our mate when we smelt her. “Yes beta positive, and before you disrespect me again by thinking I wouldn't know my mates smell know that i am dangerously close to letting dom out and he isn't happy either.” “my apologies alpha i meant no disrespect but finding the luna is a big deal i was simply making sure so i can distract Alpha david so you can find her uninterrupted, congratulations Alpha!”. I smile while Dom calms down pleased with our beta's thinking but before I can answer him Alpha David speaks. “Alpha Garrett, would you like to join Jackson and I in my office for a drink?” I smile and agree while mindlinking Marcus to look around for anything out of the ordinary. While I go to follow Alpha David I pass Jackson and am able to smell my mate all over him, it takes almost all my self-control to keep Dom in check and keep him from killing Jackson here and now for daring to smell like my mate. “Alpha are you alright your aura is coming out strongly right now?” Marcus’s mindlink snaps me out of my murderous thoughts and I silently thank him for keeping me in control, “Marcus find out who is close to Jackson I can smell my mate all over him” “yes Alpha”. I walk into Alpha David's office and immediately take a seat on a cough cose to the door in case I smell my mate again. Jackson sits down in the chair next to the couch I'm on while David and Marie sit on the couch across from me, right when I'm about to ask David how things with his pack are going the door opens and in walks Cindy with a smug smile on her face for a reason I don't know. Cidny walks right over to Jackson instantly taking a seat on the arm of his chair without giving respect to her alpha and Luna let alone to me the visiting alpha. “Cindy this is a private meeting please see yourself out and next time you enter a room with your superiors in it make sure to show your respect to them before taking a seat”, Marie is in luna mode while she chastises Cindy for her behavior but Jackson steps in for his mate. “Mother Cindy is my mate and future Luna of the RedRock pack; she should be included in these meetings to gain experience.” Marie and even David don't look particularly happy about this fact but both let it go with nods. “Alpha David, would you mind telling me how things are going with your pack in response to the transition to a new alpha?’” I ask politely but he knows it's a demand. We have been talking about our packs and discussing a new treaty for about an hour when I get a mindlink from Marcus. “Alpha i have looked around and talked to pack members they are all in good condition but none are particularly happy about Jackson being alpha and especially about Cindy being luna. I also found a puddle of blood in the kitchen that seems to be from today but has yet to be cleaned up and no one knows where it came from.” hmm that is good information indeed. I'm curious about the blood and Dom is pushing me to go check it out so I suggest we head to the kitchen for some coffee. “Alpha David, how about we talk some more in the kitchen over some coffee?” David agrees and we all head for the kitchen but the closer we get to it the more restless Dom gets. Stepping into the kitchen I stop in my tracks when I am slammed with the smell of my mate and it leads right to the blood all over the floor. “ Alpha David, what is the meaning of this blood?” My voice has a very obvious growl to it when I ask David, but I also notice he is just as shocked as I am and Marie looks like she is going to be sick. I notice Marcus moving closer to me whe David replies “I'm not sure Garrett but it smells like Eden's blood.” He turns to his son who doesn't look shocked in the least and David looks about ready to kill him “Jackson what did you do to that poor girl?” “calm down father i only made sure the mutt left our guest alone during their stay here” the growl Dom lets out is a viscous one and i know my eyes are now his oceanic blue instead of my dark blue “how exactly did you make sure she did that pup?” calling him a pup was on purpose to show how much he has to learn. Jackson growls at being called a child and answers with so much smugness i want to kill him, “i showed her what would happen if she was found near any of you” i snarl at him and take a deep breath to track my mate and begin to follow the smell which leads me to the door of what i can only assume is a broom closet. “What are you doing, leave my packmates alone!” This boy is dangerously close to being killed but before I can say anything Marcus speaks up from next to me. “ You're telling me you are making your pack member sleep in a damn closet!” He is yelling by the end of his sentence but I turn towards David with a scowl. “ You are letting your pack members sleep in closets David, are you out of your mind?” he shakes his head while answering me. “I had no idea she is supposed to be in a room on the second floor with the warriors” this shocks me but i ignore it for now and turn back towards Jackson who i blocking my way to the door i stare him down and let my aura out until he looks down and moves out of my way. I step up to the door and begin to open it slowly just in case she isn't decent but the overwhelming smell of blood makes me swing the door open and the sight that greets me makes my knees weak and anger burn. There on an extremely thin mattress is my mate covered in blood and not healing but the worst is the fact that her heartbeat is so slow i can barely hear it. I rush to her side and gently pick her up telling David to show me to the pack hospital. “Why isn't she healing?” Jackson looks like the cat that ate the canary when he answers “she has no wolf, she is a pathetic orphan found at the border when she was young.” i lift my foot and plant it to the center of his chest making him fly to the other side of the hallway while snarling “you ever speak of my mate that way again and i'll kill you” everyone pauses and looks at me wide eyed until i growl again and we all start walking to the hospital. “Garrett she does have wolf i have talked to her she is hiding herself from those in this pack and right now is focusing solely on a punctured lung that still has the rib in it” Dom information makes me snarl again and begin to walk faster, i refuse to lose my mate before i can prove to her how good of a mate i can be to her.
