CHAPTER 6: MISS KNOW IT ALL

1100 Words
** SARAH’S POV ** I turned to Angela “Did you see that?” I do not know if I was shocked or surprised at the way Hanna’s eyes changed their color. To say that it was freaky, would be an understatement “Her eyes turned freaking pitch black and the way she growled… god… it was like an animal or more like a big man growling in anger!!” Angela stood still with her eyes bulged out and about to fall out of their sockets “That… that…” “Oh, wow, finally! Someone made you speechless!!” I stepped closer to her wrapping my arm around her shoulder bumping my hip to hers “Come on, let us get out of here before those crazy girls come back and start something else”. She rolled her eyes at me, but a smile soon formed on her lips “I think we missed the school bus” Angela said looking the empty lot of the school bus area. “It will probably take us 30 or 45 minutes by walk plus the scenery is not that bad” I shrugged my shoulders walking backward ahead of her with my hands tucked in my pockets. “I used to wonder how you got those curves when you hog food, like, all the time, you are a food monster with a smoking hot body that is to die for” she poked my ribs with her finger trying probe for love handles. “Stop it… I swear Angela…” ‘Yes, you guessed it right or maybe not… I am bloody ticklish almost everywhere!’ “It is funny how you say I am hot when you are the hot babe among the both of us”. The loud roaring of the cars caught our attention, so we turned around and found the supercars parked at school whizzing past us and the occupants of those cars are none other than the members of the ‘dumb sixers’ club “Wow, now we know who those cars belong to” I scoffed. “So, you want to come over tonight and have a sleep over?” Angela wrapped her arms with mine with a skip in her step matching with that of mine. “Mom was not home this morning, as usual, you would wonder that since we are in a new city, a new country, that she would say ‘good morning’ to her daughter and tell her to have a good day at school. But noooooo… I was greeted with an empty house and no BREAKFAST!!!” She gasps dramatically placing a hand over her chest “She wouldn’t!!!” “Oh, stop it! No need to be so dramatic” I backhanded her arm “All I know is that my grandparents lived here. I guess I should have known she might have friends here too, but it would have been helpful if she had just told me about it, last night rather than leaving a post – it on the fridge!” “Does it surprise you, when you are used to it already?” she turns her attention to a café “up for something sweet?” “How do you always read my mind?” and with that, we went to the sweet heaven that smelled just as heavenly. “It is not really a surprise when you are a food monster” I elbowed her in her stomach as she burst out laughing and eventually, I ended up laughing with her “chocolate milkshake?” “Ok, Miss know it all! We should take it to go and finish it with our walk” and so, our normal walk turned into a milkshake walk and talk “I will see if mom is around and I will update you on the sleep over?” As I walked closer to my house, I could see that the lights were turned on ‘Oh, thank god! That means she is home, hopefully, and not dropped in or a few minutes and left forgetting about the lights’ I opened the door gingerly and sighed when I found my mom busy in the kitchen probably cooking the only dish she mastered “Hey mom”. “Hey honey, how was school?” she wiped her hands to the hand towel and brought out food that she never ever cooked before “I made chicken skillet, my gammy’s recipe and before you go all judgy on my cooking skills, ‘yes’ I have done this plenty of times before, while you were just a baby, so it is another dish that I can do to perfection!” “Let me be the judge of that coz the last time you praised your food this much, I ended up puking my guts out” I scrunched up my nose remembering that day. “Oh, come on! That was not my mistake… the dish was fine till you realized that it was not chicken or fish or prawn or lamb. The second I told you that it is pork you went on puking your guts out for no reason!” she threw her hands in the air like I was too much. I lifted the lid ‘Ok, it does not look so bad!’ “Mom, you gotta pulling these disappearing acts on me when I wake up. It was my first day at school today and I expected you to be there for me if nothing then at least to have breakfast with me” I sighed shaking my head as I put a spoonful of the food in my mouth “Oh damn!! This is amazing and the best dish that you have ever cooked for me!” “Oh yeah? I knew you would love it and I could never go wrong with it” she hung her head and stopped eating “I am sorry about this morning. I just had to meet my friend as she had an emergency but I promise you that today was the last day of me disappearing on you in the mornings” she placed her hand on mine as she looked at me with a smile. “I would love that very much” I hugged her for a few seconds before getting back to the yummilicious food that she prepared “Angela wanted to have a sleep over tonight, can I go?” She rolled her eyes at me “God! You both are so inseparable that I sometimes think that you do not have a boyfriend coz you both are in your own happy world. Are you sure that neither of you is a lesbian?” “There is nothing wrong with being a lesbian but I am sorry to disappoint you that I am very much into guys, I am not sorry if neither of the guys have a good taste in women nor the guts to come up and talk to me!” she shook her head laughing to her heart's content. “Oooohhh, yeah it is always the men, aaaaalways” we both burst out laughing knowing the meaning behind her words.
