Chapter 3 He whispered into her ear that still sent waves of lust throughout her body. She lied. He still did have a place in her heart and she still felt for him. So much. He affected her so much that he left her desperate for air. He picked her chin up to face his and she tried turning her head away. Gazing into his eyes would make her fall for him again, the way the fire would burn with determination or the darker color it would turn if sad or guilty. "Look at me Chris" He asked her but she knew that she couldn't or rather she shouldn’t. He tilted her head towards his but she immediately closed her eyes. "Dammit Chris, please just look at me." If he were to gaze into her brown eyes, he knew he'd be given fuel, a motivation. But she wouldn't look at him. Why won't she look at him. Why did she deny it? Dammit why was he such a coward. Unable to take it anymore he placed his lips against hers. They were so soft and familiar just like how he'd last remembered. No one made him feel so strong like her. Chris jerked as his lips met hers. Gods how much she missed those lips and dreamt of him kissing her. She thought. They'd always rob her of balance. Her body getting the note as she started to weaken. They slid down the wall but still their lips didn't depart as he held her so close, not ready to let them go. She remembered the feeling, the way his lips roamed her body on that night. She missed him. The dream she had the other night seemed more within grasping distance. If only, if only- "Mommy?" She heard the door open and Jolen poked his head from the side. "Mommy." He repeated as he looked for her. Chris pulled back and sat herself against the wall. He spotted her next to an unknown man. "Mommy." he asked for her again while walking towards her. Chris held her hand up to take him into her lap. "C'mere sweetie." He obeyed and went into his mother's arms. He looked up and frowned. "Mommy I tell you not to cry." He brought his fingers to wipe her tears. He then glared at the man. "You make mommy cry!" Jerish froze, oh god, this, this was his son. The one they created just after a night of passion. He looked just like him and that made the guilt tore through him. How could he have been uninformed about this and how did so much time pass for him not to know what happened? Chris held onto Jolen. She laid her head on his small shoulders. "Mommy please no cry, you don't look pretty when you cry." He said while tears filled his eyes. He ran over to Jerish, "Why did you make mommy cry?" He pounded on the strange man. "Jolen stop it" She grabbed for him. "No mommy, he make you cry." His words were sobs that choked him almost as if he had struck the boy’s mother. "Jolen." She whispered. "I want daddy mommy, why don't Jolen have daddy, was Jolen a bad boy, if daddy here to make you stop cry then I won't watch t.v. and I will eat peas and sleep early." He sobbed as his fingers tried to wipe uncontrollable tears. "Mommy, where's daddy?" He cried. Jerish felt his heart tear out of his chest. Dammit, he was a fool. But he couldn't answer now, not after his son stop crying. He could feel the pain. Dammit it was like the night he left Chris, how he cried the night they left the state. "Jerish you're a man" He recalled his father's words years ago. What felt like eternal silence, Jolen fell asleep in his mother's arms. Chris and Jerish talked about her difficulties and labor and the first weeks of Jolen's birth. They were hard. She could hear the pain that resonated deep inside his voice. Why did he leave and regret it? she thought to herself yet she was not brave enough to ask him. At the same time both their cellphones rang. They both grabbed it out and looked at the ID. Trish was calling. "Hello?" she answered. "Hey Chris where the hell are you?" "I'm still at the shop?" She replied. There was silence then Trish scolded her. "You have a date with hottie coffee in two hours, what are you doing at the shop, I hope you're not dressing in work clothes to go on a date?" She wasn't in the mood to go on the date but she knew she had to. Chris got up picking Jolen up at the same time with him in her arms. She sighed loudly then walked out of the bathroom. Jerish followed behind quietly as people nearby looked at them distastefully and some eyed them carefully. On the outside of the door there was a sign that read "Out of Order" She didn't see that before. No wonder no one came inside. Millie pointed towards the door, meaning time for her to leave. She smiled at Millie for clocking her out and everything while leaving. Jerish kept following behind her. She laid Jolen on the seat and picked up his things to put inside his backpack. She threw it over her back, trying to keep both the strap up and picking up Jolen. "I'll pick him up." Jerish offered and she gave him a glare but she knew he was right, she needed help without hitting her son in the head with his own backpack. She just hesitantly nodded and he smiled back. For once she was thankful to have him there. Jolen limply laid asleep in the man that was supposed to be his father's arms. Jerish loved the feeling of him on his chest as it was so unfamiliar yet so right. He felt like a father, a real man that knew he had to take care of his family. But in a matter of time, he was going to have to make a choice. Leaving the café, they walked the street towards the bus stop. "Do you this every weekend?" He asked trying to throw out the tension that stained the air. Chris looked over at him and didn't say anything. He smiled at her. He heard a sigh that followed with a stutter. "If you mean ex- boyfriends coming to my work and finding out he has a kid and sit in the bathroom bawling like children-then no." She replied and he had to bite his cheek to bite back the sharp answer he was going to snap back at her. "N-no I mean taking him-” Indicating with a little push on Jolen, “To work and leaving this late?" She glared at him and looked back to the street they were going to cross, "Jolen, and yes every Saturday." He sighed to the small talk, in the bathroom she told him much but now she's to cut off and closing herself to him. "Isn't it dangerous to be out late?" He asked full of concern. "Yes, but I need the hours with no one to watch Jolen." He paused, "What about your parents?" "They disowned me right after I graduated." She stated so nonchalantly but it had him as he stopped dead on his tracks. "What?! Why'd they disown you?" He asked, his voice full of incredible disbelief. "Because I was pregnant at seventeen, you know Jerish I did have a life other than sleeping with you." She stated to him. He became furious and he couldn’t control his feelings as he said, "Why'd they do that, you where their precious angel, pure and their everything." "Well I wasn't so pure after that night and due to emotional distress and pregnancy sickness, I didn't attend school a lot." He continued walking again, everything went back to him, the night they made love, the pressure, even the hate. "I'm sorry I ever slept with you then."
