SLY’S POV I immediately knew that something was wrong as soon as we drove into the pack. Being an alpha for this long taught me to read the atmosphere and surroundings. And from what I can tell, something must have happened while we were away. Pack members were standing in groups of twos and threes and discussing in low tones. And they all had a certain look on their faces like they had just witnessed something worthy of gossip. We immediately alighted, and I strained my ears to pick up what they were saying. Normally, I could hear better than normal pack members with my alpha hearing. But it was a little difficult this time because they were whispering in very low tones.
