Chapter 4

1739 Words
Ria Talk of a killer hangover. My head has been pounding so hard for over an hour now. I have been awake and unable to do anything just laying in bed thinking of ways to get rid of this headache. “Suzie where are your pain killers mine are all out?” I say in a low tone while searching through our medicine box. “Mmmm…” is all I get from her. Suzie is flat out on her back on a duvet on the floor. Earlier she woke up throwing her guts out. After that I couldn’t sleep any longer, Suzie still wanted to sleep and thought the floor would be better and she has been on the floor for a long time now. I let a sigh of defeat out when I can’t find the medicine to cure this horrible headache. I better just go get some from the convenient store that isn’t too far from our hostile block. I grab my slippers and phone before leaving the room. I press the power button and discover my phone battery is dead. I can’t go back now, so I keep walking. The school is quiet, I am not surprised though. It’s usually this quiet on Saturdays. There are usually students studying on lawns and the library, I do that too but today I can bet majority of the students are nursing hangovers like I am. Suzie mentioned there were several frat parties last night for God knows what reason. Last night was wild. Everyone was high from what I remember including myself. At some point we left the frat party and found ourselves at a club, it was lit and I really enjoyed myself. Kristen, Suzie, Chloe and I danced to so many songs, Liz left with Mark. She blacked out and Mark decided to take her. I am now facing the consequences for all that alcohol I consumed and the dancing. My body hurts a little, it’s like I haven’t done any proper workout recently. I have been jogging but not as much as I usually do. Not sure if it is really hot or I am just hung over. I should have changed before leaving the room. I look down at myself wearing an oversized grey t-shirt with black cotton shorts underneath. No bra no panties but I feel so hot under this clothing. These are pajamas out in public, but I care. “Good afternoon.” The attend says to me when I walk in. Afternoon? Isn’t it morning? I look at the walk clock mounted up on the wall behind him. It’s after 2pm. Wow, I have never slept this long in my life. “Afternoon.” I say while pinching my temple, gosh my head hurts. “May I please have some vasograin tablets.” I say to him. He turns around to grab the painkiller off the shelve. “Is it a migraine or hangover headache?” he asks. Why would he just assume I have a hangover? I know I have one but isn’t that rude of him to be judging? I roll my eyes. “How’s that any of your business?” “Well, it’s both late and early for you to be dressed in pajamas and from the look on your face I can tell you were out late or early this morning.” He says with a smug expression glued to his face. How I wish I could slap that stupid expression off his face but then I might get arrested for violence, so I won’t do anything but ignore him. “How much is my bill?” I ask and he chuckles. How dare he? I seriously have more important things to do rather than argue with this person that can’t mind their own business. If I didn’t really need the painkillers I would have left. “Five dollars,” he says. I take my credit card out of the little pouch that is part of my phone cover and hand it to him. He taps my card on the POS machine and then hands me back my card and gives me the painkiller. I turn around without saying anything and start walking away. “Take enough water and eat to kill the hangover.” He shouts after me. I am tired and have no time for this…. Just as I walk out of the store, I bump into someone tall with a hard chest. I get a little dizzy and start falling towards the ground but then a pair of strong hands me catch me before my body touches the ground. I open my eyes and find myself staring into the most beautiful green eyes I haver ever seen and then my eyes dart to the rest of his face. He has beautiful facial features, dark eyelashes and eyebrows matching his raven hair, a Romanesque nose, strong jaw with prefect lips that I badly want to taste. Why am I looking at him like this? He helps me up and only let’s go of me when I am on my feet. “Are you okay?” he asks. The sound of his voice makes me weak in the knees. Why am I feeling like this towards him? I have always looked at him like the playboy that he is and now I am feeling funny and finding him attractive, that’s impossible. Must be the hangover. Leo “Why did you force us to have practice today?” Mateo complains. He is bending with his hands balancing on his knees. Sweat falling to the ground from his head. “Drink some water you look like you will pass out.” I chuckle. “I told you it wasn’t a good idea convincing him to come to that frat party.” Chase adds. “Now we are suffering for it.” Last night I changed my mind about going out with the guys, but Mateo was on my case nagging me until I agreed to go to the frat party, but I gave one condition which he and Chase both agreed too and here we are practicing. Nate should be here too but his survived because he had nothing to do with me going to that frat party which I kind of enjoyed by the way. “Please spare us, I promise to never nag you ever again I swear.” Mateo begs me. “Begging doesn’t look good on you. Stop it.” I say. “Okay can we negotiate?” Chase asks. “I am listening.” “We can come earlier or stay behind after tomorrow’s usual practice. I think I will throw up if I keep running around with the ball.” Chase gives it his best. “Yeah we can make up for it tomorrow, we promise.” I think I have made them suffer enough. I dragged their asses to the pitch two hours ago and it was hard getting them out of bed. Mateo has already thrown up twice already, Chase looks pale and I know the heat is not making it any better. “Fine, tomorrow you both stay back an extra hour.” Its fun to be captain, I can use my powers to get back at these two. “Oh thank God.” Mateo collapse to the ground. Chase does the same thing gently falling on his back. “I need some food and a painkiller.” Mateo says. “I just need a painkiller. I think I might throw up if I take any food. Why on earth did Angie make us drink so much tequila last night?” Chase whines. Angie loves tequila and all her parties always have tequila. I know it’s the fastest way of getting people wasted but she needs to slow down on that. “You get back to my room, I will get us food and the painkillers.” I suggest considering I am the only one that’s in a far better state among the three of us. “Thanks man.” Chase gets up and drags Mateo back to our room with him. I pick up the soccer balls and put them back where they are kept before I leave the pitch. I will start with the painkillers from the convenient store on campus, I can order the food and have it delivered to my room. I am busy on my phone sending through an order for burgers, fries and a large chicken and mushroom pizza when I bump into someone just outside the convenient store. My quickest action is to hold the person in my arms before they reach the ground. It’s her. She opens her eyes, and our eyes meet. She has the most beautiful hazel-colored eyes. Her eyes move from mine to all over my face as if she is analyzing and trying to figure out who I am. She is different from her usual self or the version of her I have come across thrice so far. Her raven hair is falling loose, her face looks troubled but even then you can’t miss the beauty. She also looks like she just woke up. I help her back to her feet and then let go of her once she is steady. “Are you okay?” I ask her but she stays quiet and says nothing for a while. The wind blows by blowing some of her hair on her face, which I remove and tuck behind her right ear. “Erm…” she opens her mouth to say something but then stops and holds her temple. She must have a headache. “Headache?” She gently nods her head. “Must be the heat, get some rest and avoid moving around it’s very hot.” I says. “Thanks, I am actually hang overed. Got these for the pain.” She raises her hand showing me some painkillers. “Okay,” I give her a small smile. “Anyway, I better get going, see you around.” She says and then walks past me. I turn around and watch her walk away for a while. She is literally dragging herself. I was going to follow her and walk her back to her hostel but that might just piss her off. This was the first time we were interacting without her wanting to bite my head off.
