Meeting Ellise
"Good morning, class! I am glad to be with you for this Academic Year. Before else, I would like to introduce myself. I am Ellise Jane Johnson and you may call me 'Ma'am Ellise', okay?" she introduced to her Grade 10 students of Section Peace.
"Yes, Ma'am!" the students answered in unison. Section Peace is her first class every Monday to Friday of the whole school year. There are nineteen girls and twenty one boys for a total of forty students.
The wall of the room is painted of white, the windows are closed but the blinds are open. The air conditioned was set into its moderate temperature. Scents of the students' perfume freshen by the lemon freshener placed every corner.
She smiled genuinely and talked again, "I was graduated here way back in my junior high days and this school means a lot for me since I grew up of its environment. I am your teacher in English 10, so I am hoping you to enjoy during our discussion."
Some students smiled too and others reacted like 'Whoah'. Seems they like how their teacher's voice while speaking, it's so sweet and warm.
"Ma'am, how old are you?" one of the boy students asked.
The teacher paused for a moment before answering, "I'm 27 years old".
She roamed her eyes around the classroom and she's happy to see her new students. In addition, they are her third advisory class of her four years in practicing.
The armchairs were arranged into two columns. Each column has five rows and each row has five seats. The teacher's table is in front of the center aisle. Some students are quite uncomfortable because they have no friends or seatmates.
"I am your adviser and I want you to know well, so I guess you have an idea of what you're going to do. Maybe you practiced this at home?", she joked. The students laughed and everyone gets nervous because they are wishing that it wont start with them.
"Tell your name, your age, and your expectation for English subject. Starts with you," pointing the girl on the left aisle of the room.
She stood up and introduced herself. "Good morning, everyone. My name is Janine Mendez, I am sixteen years old. My expectation is... uhm... my expectation is to learn more lessons in English." She was stuttered while speaking and trying to build up her English sentence.
On Ellise's mind, she encountered this scene a million times. Some students nowadays are hard to express themselves in English especially if they were raised with their native language since language acquires in the environment as they grew up. She even experienced the same thing because she was raised with her native language which is the Ilocano dialect plus Tagalog and eventually, English language.
"Don't be nervous about English. It's quite challenging but trust me, English is way easier to learn than Filipino but I am not saying that Filipino is too hard. Of course, we are Filipino so we are proud of it. Just saying that don't be afraid. Don't worry, I understand you 'cause I've been there, okay?" she explained.
The students nodded. The Introduce Youself portion lasted almost the duration of the subject which is an hour every class. Before class dismissal, she explained the grading system briefly.
The same system repeated the whole day until six o'clock of their time out.
"Ma'am Ellise, how was your day?" Rowena asked. They call their fellow teachers as Ma'am or Sir to be more professional on their field.
Ellise arranging her things before leaving her desk in the faculty room. There are ten cubicles and her cubicle was placed near the door.
"As usual, happy to meet my new advisory class and your advisory classes too", she answered. She smiled to them and said her goodbye.
Rowena invited her to celebrate their first day but she refused because she has to check how is their company.
Ellise is on her way going home when her sister named Ellaine is calling, so she put the bluetooth headset on her right ear.
"I'm driving, what's the matter?", she asked. She slow down because of the traffic.
"Where are you at? Can you fetch me here outside of the company?", her sister asked knowing where she is.
She roamed her eyes outside of the car and knew her location. Five hundred meters away to the company so she said yes to her sister.
The two are the only daughters of the former CEO of Guanfang Company and their promising clothing brand is the Suit&Wear. The company was built by their parents and now, it was titled to Ellise. Ellaine on the other hand is the in-charge of Marketing Department because she was graduated in that field but most ot the time, she is also doing her job in the Production Department when her sister has no time for it.
Ellise wanted to transfer the CEO tilte to Ellaine but the latter refused because she respects the last will of their parents before dying. She's not greedy in money or fame because she is contended of what she have and besides, her husband owns a restaurant with more than hundreds of branches nationwide.
Ellise on the other hand is a single lady since she graduated in junior high. She refuses many suitors and saying directly that she's not yet ready for that kind of relationship. She has a long straight black hair, her eyes are narrow that she inherited from her half-Chinese mother. Her pointed nose and narrow lips were inherited from her half-Canadian father. Both parties were born in the country so they can speak Filipino fluently. She has a sexy body but she wears not too much revealing outfits, and her skin tone is fair due to her office works. She was the one who designed some of the products of Suit&Wear brand.
Ellaine has a child already and married to a business man two years ago. Her elder sister, Ellise was twenty three that time. They are like twins because of their appearance and a two-year gap but Ellise is more cheerful and lively rather than her. It's just that Ellaine married and found her true love already.
She's jealous about it and asking her fate why it's quite unfair but every time she does, she keeps convincing herself that she'll find her true love too, even if it's on the next life, she'll wait for it.
