Chapter 30Tina and Mondo looked at each other when they heard the sound of the stairwell door. They were still hiding in the study room in the darkness of the closed library. Neither they nor Decker had moved since he entered. He had stood and waited in the middle of the commons.
Tina stretched upward to peek through the window. She saw Decker standing in the middle of all the computers that were covered in code-screen. He was looking at Fizzy and Carter, who had just entered the first level through the stairwell door. After Fizzy locked eyes with Decker, she turned and pulled Carter back into the stairwell.
Decker looked down at a device in his hand.
Carter’s voice came through Mondo’s radio.
“Guys, the key card’s not working anymore. There’s stairs going up. We’re taking those now.”
