“How did you figure this all out? About the implant?” she asked curiously.
“The Interceptor pulled me in to the technosphere that day. Made a severed duplicate of my consciousness. The implant is a vault up here,” — he pointed to his temple — “and that part of me was obliterated and put back together inside the technosphere. Everything that makes me who I am, plus the little extra that I didn’t know was there. I could see the full picture of what was in my head. And the original me, Carter, was left intact. Woke up on the floor like a minor incident.”
