Chapter 56Carter stood in the middle of a desert. The castle-like structure he had just left behind after stepping through the obelisk was nowhere to be seen. The inverted pyramid of purple onyx now towered behind him planted into the desert ground.
The gravel crunched beneath Carter’s feet as he walked forward. The barren wasteland was surrounded by mountains. The sky was an orange hue and lightly dotted with unnatural black clouds, which moved at twice the speed of normal clouds. The orange of the sky and the earth tones of the desert almost made the whole scene blend together, if it weren’t for the dark silhouette of the surrounding mountains dividing the expanses. As desolate as it was, it did not feel hot here, but quite cool.
