Chapter 1: A Will from Canada
It was already hot in Los Angeles in April, but Emily's heart was cold.
It all started 1 year ago. Once, she was a Canadian girl who came to Los Angeles with a dream of music, working some odd jobs while looking for opportunities in the music business.
There was a party, which was said to feature many of the top producers in the music industry and some socialites, and she begged for a long time before she got the chance to get in.
But what a coincidence. Another girl, Chloe, came from England to look for opportunities. She always despised Emily, a "country" girl, and was jealous that Emily's musical talent was better than her own.
This time, seeing that Emily also found the opportunity to attend this party, jealousy overtook her mind. She put an aphrodisiac in Emily's drink to make a fool of her and lose this opportunity.
But Emily felt that she was not in the right state, in a hurry to find a room to go in and rest, and what happened after that, although she was conscious, but could not control herself.
After a short break, a tall, handsome man came in.
When he came in and saw Emily, he was stunned and then understood something: "You're the hooker they found for me? Not bad." He said with a lewd smile and came up.
He took off his clothes and his eight pack abs were so tempting. His size, as big as a baby's arm.
Emily did not know if it was the role of drugs, or the role of alcohol, she also could not control herself, actually took the initiative in a state of confusion.
When she woke up from her sleep the next day, he had left, leaving behind only $10,000.
"f**k!" Emily woke up the next day and wanted to cry in anguish! She was still a virgin!
But she was really short of money and didn't know what to do after that happened. So she had to take the $10,000 and leave.
If that's as far as things go, that's nothing.
But then came the sadder part, she was pregnant!
She went to great lengths to find the man, and all he thought was that she was a man-hungry b***h out to blackmail him!
She couldn't find a place to get an abortion and had no money.
Now, a year has passed and she could only give birth to this child.
But what about the future? She didn't go to college, she didn't have a stable job, and she didn't have the means to pursue her dreams while raising her children.
While she was worrying about her future, there was a sudden knock on the door outside.
Emily opened the door and the landlord's serious face appeared in front of her. There was no doubt that the landlord has come to her at this time with one purpose in mind, and that was to pay the rent.
Emily was renting a studio, but in Los Angeles, this room costs $2,000! And a one-time payment of a quarter of the rent, that was $6,000, but the deadly thing was, at this juncture Emily didn't even have $300 on her!
There was no choice, Emily could only accompany a smile and asked the landlord to defer, the landlord was very unhappy, and finally said stiffly: "Give you two days, the night after tomorrow I come to get the money, if still can not pay the rent, you get out of my apartment!"
The words were hard to hear, but at this point Emily was powerless to get angry.
Emily was now cornered.
After sending off the landlord, Emily lay on her bed with a tired face, her heart full of uncertainty about the future and frustration with her current situation.
Her family was not good either. Her father, a gambler and alcoholic, abandoned her and her mother when she was 15 years old.
Her mother, who has long since returned to Europe, has not been in touch for years.
She grew up with her grandparents. But her grandmother died a few years ago and her grandfather was not well.
Now, she is having a rough time in Los Angeles and doesn't know how to tell her grandfather.
Just then, the door was suddenly knocked on again and the landlord's piercing voice rang out, "Emily Green, open the door, OPEN THE f*****g DOOR!"
When she heard the landlord's voice, the frustration and despair in Emily's heart was replaced by anger. The landlord pushed her so far, he said he would give her two days to raise money, how come he came back so soon?
Emily forced her anger to open the door, only to find the landlord accompanied by a handsome man in a suit.
He was tall, at least 6 feet, with blond hair like silky ribbons and turquoise blue eyes like the waters of Lake Ontario.
Perfect body, and excellent facial features, all reveal his handsome.
In addition, his clothes, which were new from LV, reveal his good financial condition.
"Hello, Ms. Green, I'm George Auerbach, a lawyer with the Canadian law firm Farming & Deer.
It's not convenient to talk here, how about finding a place where I can buy you a cup of coffee?"
Emily didn't know what's going on and hadn't reacted to talk back.
The landlord said sharply, "Are you involved in some f*****g lawsuit? Don't ever involve me, damn it."
Emily didn't know what was going on, but was also afraid of what was wrong with her, held the baby, and followed George to the cafe.
After sitting down, George asked, "Ms. Green, may I ask if you know Mr. Robert Green?"
"Yes, he's my grandfather."
George nodded and asked again, "I believe you have a small blue pendant on you, right? May I see it?"
Emily frowned, not knowing what he was going to do, but tugged at the thread around her neck and pulled out a all blue pendant.
George picked it up and looked at it carefully. Then he said solemnly,
"From now on, Ms. Green, you will inherit Mr. Robert Green's Green Fishery in the Farewell Township, St. John's, Newfoundland-Labrador, Canada! Please sign here."
As he spoke, he held out a document.
"what?!"
Emily was stunned, why the sudden inheritance, something happened to grandpa?
"Oh my God! What happened to my grandfather?"
"I'm sorry, Ms. Green, he has gone to heaven."
Emily could no longer hold back, her whole person broke down, tears could not stop flowing.
To hell with the world. Why did she have to suffer so much.
George could not bear to see this, and comforted her for a while.
He said, "I need you to come back to Canada with me as soon as possible to confirm the inheritance."
Emily took George back to her rented room in a blur.
But just as she reached the door of her room, she was shocked to find a lot of stuff piled up outside the door. On closer inspection, it was all her luggage, mainly bedding, books and laptop and the like. There were also supplies for the baby.
The landlord also came out of the door and when he saw Emily, he closed his door with a snap and said coldly, "You're back? Good, I'll tell you what happened, what kind of trouble did you get into? How else would the lawyer come to the door? I have deep doubts about your ability to pay the rent!"
Emily was just about to explain when the landlord continued with a cold face, "No need to say anything, get your stuff and get out, I'm not going to rent a room to someone like you who's trash."
In a flash, Emily came to her senses.
