Genji meets Rosette
For as long as Genji could remember, he had been a loner. The world never felt interesting to him—his life was like a painting drawn only in black and white. That was until he met her.
Genji Rollard was a high school student who never understood the meaning of affection. Abandoned by his mother at the age of two and abused by his father, his childhood was nothing but pain. Later, he was taken in by his aunt, Lucy Rollard, who became his only family.
Scarred by his past, Genji unconsciously shut down his emotions. He grew cold, distant, and uninterested in others. His school life was quiet—he never socialized, never cared, and never tried. But all of that was about to change when he met Rosette. It was a noisy morning at Josei Academy. Genji sat in class with his head down on his desk while everyone else talked excitedly about a new transfer student from Bardon Academy, one of the top schools in the country.
Most students wondered why anyone would leave such a prestigious school.Soon, the classroom fell silent as their homeroom teacher walked in—Miss Christine Livingsfield.
“Good morning, class,” she said. “Today we have a new transfer student. Please come in and introduce yourself.”
A girl stepped into the room. The atmosphere changed instantly.
She had fair skin, long shiny black hair, and a calm elegance that drew everyone’s attention. Even those trying to act normal couldn’t hide their surprise.
“She’s like a model…” someone whispered. At least 5'7 in height, she stood at the front of the class, slightly nervous under all the stares.
She bowed gently.
“Good morning, Class 1-B of Josei Academy. My name is Rosette Musashi. I’m delighted to join you today. I will do my best to get along with everyone.”“Amazing… even her voice is beautiful,” Jace Lancelot suddenly spoke up. “I deem you worthy of sitting next to me. I am the self-proclaimed king of Class 1-B. Remember that.”
Rosette blinked in confusion and turned to the teacher.“Pay him no mind,” Miss Christine said calmly. “He’s the class jokester.”
“I am disappointed, teacher,” Jace continued proudly. “To compare a king to a mere jokester—how ignorant.”
“Rose, you can take the empty seat at the back,” the class representative Amane said. “Rose…” Rosette repeated in her mind as she walked toward the seat.
That’s when she noticed him.
A pale boy with blonde hair, his head still down, silent even while the entire class was in chaos.
Curious, she approached his desk.
“Hello! I’m Rosette Musashi. And you are…?”Genji didn’t respond.
She leaned slightly to see his face. “Hi. It’s nice to meet you.”
Why won’t he look at me? she thought.
After a moment of silence, Genji slowly lifted his head.
"…I’m Genji Rollard. And can you please leave me alone?”
The room went quiet for a second.
Rosette didn’t look offended. She only blinked… then smiled faintly.
“Okay,” she said calmly. “I’ll respect that.”
She turned away—but paused halfway to her seat.
“…So it’s true,” she murmured.
Genji’s eyes narrowed slightly.Rosette looked back at him, her expression thoughtful rather than surprised.
“You really are the one I was told about.”
A slight tension filled the air.
Genji frowned. “Told about?”
Rosette tilted her head a little“I was transferred here… for a reason,” she said. “Someone arranged it. Someone asked for me to keep an eye on you.”
She paused, her voice lowering slightly.
“But I don’t know who.”
The classroom noise felt distant now, like it no longer mattered.
Rosette’s gaze softened slightly as she looked at Genji.
“All I know is… you’re important enough for someone to send me here.”
