Rob came the next day. Madison had been released from the hospital, but was still taking it easy. She spent most of her day on the sofa with Amara. She couldn’t help but hold the infant and just stare at her. She would miss this. Whenever she thought about what was to come, her eyes filled with tears. “You look great for someone who just gave birth,” Rob said, after hugging Madison and taking a seat. “Don’t flatter me,” Madison chastised. “I almost died, and I look like shit.” Rob laughed quietly. “You give out when I try to be nice, and you give out if I’m mean.
