Madison waited a few weeks before going back to Palladia. Rune visited once, noticed Madison’s demeanor and the lack of a baby, made her own assumptions, and left soon after. Everyone outside the immediate family, and the doctor, was under the impression that Madison had lost the baby during delivery, a very real possibility for a human carrying a supernatural creature. As such, they grieved and processed in the only way they knew how: respectful distance and gifts of food.
It was as if Madison had lost the baby. Amara was gone, and Madison didn’t know if or when she’d see her again. The war had blocked many trade routes, sent warriors to the borders, and stopped travel to many areas. She would not draw attention to herself or Rob’s pack by trying to visit.
