“Rune, please, stay with us for a bit,” Madison said as the day got late. “I won’t impose,” Rune replied. She had finished making enough soup for Madison to last for the month. “You won’t be,” Cillian said, knowing that while the invitation was most definitely Madison’s idea, Rune only denied it because she was waiting to see if he would offer. “You’re too kind. Surely your pack will mind though,” Rune remarked. She knew the others were milling about outside, either unwilling to enter or having been told not to. “Nonsense,” Madison said. “They’re family. They’ll love you.” Doubtful, Cillian thought. He could tell Rune was thinking the same thing. Madison was so optimistic though.
