The night at the UN base in Cyprus was heavy with tension.
Inside the operations room, holographic maps flickered across the table, casting blue light on Liam’s sharp features. His jaw tightened as he studied the data stream — encrypted messages traced back to someone inside their own unit.
“Someone’s been leaking intel on our movements,”
he said coldly, voice echoing through the dim light.
Captain Reyes crossed his arms.
“You think it’s one of us?”
Liam didn’t answer. His eyes shifted toward the sealed file on the desk — marked CLASSIFIED – SPECTER CONNECTION.
Meanwhile, Amelia entered the room quietly, her presence both graceful and commanding.
“You’re still chasing ghosts, Captain Tran?”
Her tone was teasing, but her eyes betrayed concern.
Liam looked up, meeting her gaze.
“Ghosts have a way of returning, especially when they were never buried.”
Their conversation was interrupted by an urgent alert — a supply convoy carrying humanitarian aid had gone dark in northern Syria. Satellite feeds showed smoke rising from the desert.
“That’s our mission,” Liam said.
“Gear up. We move in ten minutes.”
As the team prepared for deployment, Amelia insisted on joining — officially as a diplomatic observer, but Liam knew she had other reasons.
Somewhere deep down, he still didn’t trust her fully. Not after what happened in Paris three years ago.
