She did not talk to him for the rest of the day. She changed quickly and walked to the car park ready to go home.
Then, her phone buzzed. It was from Louis.
“I'll be outside in ten minutes. You can still say no.”
Sophie stared at the message for two minutes and waited by her car. In exactly ten minutes, he showed up, still in that white shirt he wore earlier, with his jacket in one hand, looking elegant without even trying.
"You stayed," he said quietly.
"I was already at my car," she replied.
The corner of his mouth moved slightly. "Right."
He drove. She did not ask where they were going, and he did not tell her. Sophie stared at the city moving past her as she told herself that it is just one drink, nothing serious.
