Sparks of jealousy

The pack grounds were tense the next morning. Kaelen’s eyes burned like molten steel as he walked through the clearing, senses alert to every whisper, every movement. Lyra was near the edge of the trees, practicing meditation and focusing her bond energy—a subtle but powerful act of self-control he had never seen before. Selene appeared from the shadows, flawless and poised, but her gaze was sharp, calculating. “Alpha,” she said softly, stepping closer, “you should not let her influence grow unchecked. The Omega bond is dangerous if it is left untamed.” Kaelen’s jaw tightened. “She is not dangerous,” he growled, voice low and feral. “And if you touch her again, Selene… I will not restrain myself.” Selene’s smile was a blade. “I am not here to fight you, Kaelen. I am only reminding you that weakness has consequences. Even an Omega can disrupt a pack if left unchecked.” Lyra’s eyes lifted, calm and steady, but her pulse quickened. She could feel the tension radiating from Kaelen, the surge of possessiveness that the Alpha could no longer hide. Her hands clenched slightly, feeling the bond thrum like a drumbeat in her veins. I am not weak, she reminded herself. Not to him. Not to her. Kaelen strode forward, closing the distance between them with predatory grace. “Step away from her,” he warned, voice low, dangerous, every word carrying the weight of an Alpha’s fury. “Or you will regret it.” Selene’s smirk did not waver. “And if I refuse?” she asked, voice silk over steel. Kaelen’s growl reverberated through the clearing, and Lyra felt it in her bones, in every pulse of the bond. His hands clenched at his sides, tension radiating like fire. “Then you will test me,” he said through clenched teeth, “and you will find I am not the man you think I am.” Lyra stepped between them, meeting Kaelen’s gaze with a calm defiance that made his pulse hammer. “Kaelen,” she whispered, “let me handle her. You… you are too close to losing yourself.” He stared at her, chest heaving, wolf snarling beneath the surface. She was right, and yet the bond pulsed like a wildfire between them, pulling, demanding, insisting. “You are mine,” he hissed, voice raw, low, feral. “And no one—no one—will touch you. Do you understand?” Lyra nodded, strength and defiance in her posture. “I understand,” she said softly, voice steady, but the bond flared hotter as she pressed closer to him. “But Kaelen… I am not helpless. I am not weak. I will survive this, and you will not stop me. Not even her.” Selene’s eyes narrowed, realizing the depth of Lyra’s power, the bond that had grown stronger since the first night Kaelen had claimed her. “You think you can resist me?” Selene hissed. “I will test you both. I will see if the Alpha is truly untouchable, and if the Omega is as fragile as everyone believes.” Kaelen stepped forward, grabbing Lyra’s hand and pulling her close. His lips brushed her temple, teeth grazing lightly—a feral mark of possession. “She will not touch you,” he growled. “No one will. You are mine. And I will show her the consequences of crossing me.” Lyra’s breath caught, but she did not pull away. Her hands pressed against his chest, grounding him, stabilizing him in the storm of rage, desire, and tension. “I am yours, Kaelen. Fully. And we will survive this. Together.” The bond flared, silver and hot, almost visible in the moonlight. Kaelen’s wolf growled, feral and triumphant. Lyra had not only survived Selene’s subtle sabotage—she had grown stronger. Strong enough to stand beside him, strong enough to match him, and strong enough to ignite the desire that threatened to consume him entirely. Selene retreated, realizing she had underestimated both the Alpha and the Omega. But her threat lingered in the air, a dark promise that the battle for dominance, love, and loyalty was far from over. Kaelen’s hands remained on Lyra’s waist, possessive, protective, and impossibly tender all at once. His chest pressed against hers, and the bond between them pulsed like a living thing—relentless, unstoppable, undeniable. And in that moment, Kaelen realized something terrifying and exhilarating: the Omega he had rejected, fought, and tried to resist… had become the most powerful force in his life. Bound by fate. Claimed by fire. And untouchable to anyone who dared challenge them.
