I felt these two fingers poke my sides before a warm embrace took a hold of me.
“Hey. Not in public, someone might see.”
“Let them!”
“But…”
“It’s done.”
“What’s done?”
“I’ve ended it.”
“I thought you was waiting?”
“I couldn’t. I couldn’t lie to her anymore or myself for that matter. I wanted to come last night but I thought this morning would be a better surprise.”
I squealed as he told me and I pulled him down for a passionate kiss. “I can’t believe it!”
“Well believe it. I’m all yours.”
I smiled at him so hard my cheeks started to hurt.
“What did Abbie say?”
“That she understood. She’s known for a while now that it hasn’t been working. She knew from the moment I set eyes on you again. She even asked me if I would be coming to you straight away.”
“What did you say?”
“I said, not straight away. Maybe a few hours. I couldn’t help myself.”
“Jamie that’s so bad,” I laughed.
He picked me up and twirled me around. I cupped his face in my hands and leaned in for a kiss.
“Put her down! Does this mean it’s official?”
“Uha,” I nodded.
Gemma screamed and hugged us both, as did Zoe. Gemma slapped Jamie on his shoulder.
“Ow! What was that for?”
“For being a complete d**k. For taking so long and stringing her along. There will be many more or even worse if you treat her like shit.”
“I won’t I promise you that!”
“Good! Now can we please go try on some dresses.”
I interlinked with Jamie and we followed behind Zoe and Gemma. I can’t believe the wedding is only a month away. It’s come so quick. Of course we already have Zoe’s dress. It’s mine and Gemma’s turn to find the perfect dresses.
We headed inside and we were surrounded by thousands of beautiful dresses. All colour coded which made it a lot easier for us. Zoe’s scheme is a turquoise colour. It’s all to do with the sea as she grew up in Hawaii and she met Nathan on a beach on holiday. When she was fifteen she moved here with her parents because of her father’s job.
We must have tried at least two dozen dresses. We had one set left and we all tried them on as Zoe needed one for her sister who is maid of honour, but she had to work so couldn’t make it.
Jamie must have had enough of seeing me in so many dresses as he barged in while I was stood in my underwear, ready to change into my dress.
“What are you doing?” I whispered.
“This!” he declared, taking a hold of me. He pushed me against the wall, passionately kissing my neck, moving down towards my stomach. I couldn’t help but let out a little moan of pleasure.
“Keira you ready?”
“Erm...one minute,” I shouted, quickly putting the dress on.
Luckily the back was lace so I could use that as an excuse as to why Jamie was in my cubicle. I opened the curtain while Jamie finished fastening me.
“Wow!” Gemma declared. “You look stunning in it!”
“Yeah, that’s the one. It suits you both. My sister will look amazing in this too,” Zoe screamed.
“I think we have found the dresses,” Gemma said.
We all screamed, making Jamie wince.
“Sorry baby. Are we too loud for you?”
He nodded as I walked up to him and placed a kiss on his nose. He grabbed me by the waist smiling at me. I leaned back towards the girls and suggested dinner before we left to go home.
Jamie was a true gentleman by holding my chair for me and paying for my meal, even though I did insist on paying my own, but he wouldn’t let me.
He came home with me and we all watched a film together; George, Gemma, Jamie and myself. When it was time for bed, Jamie lifted me up over his shoulders. I looked at Gemma and George waving goodnight to them. As we went up the stairs, I was giggling all the way up until he threw me onto the bed.
He lifted my shirt over my head, kissing me as he does. He went onto removing my shorts, kissing my thighs as he pulled them down. The feeling was so pleasurable, I let out the biggest moan for more of his touch. He got closer and closer, feeling his tongue inside of me. I held his head, pushing him for more. His hands feeling all over my body.
“Please…” I screamed.
“Not yet,” he grinned.
I arched my back pleading for him. He moved up to be level with my face, staring into my eyes. He moved down to my lips. Seeing him look, I licked my top lip to tease him. It worked. He kissed me so hard, I couldn’t catch my breath. When we finally parted, I looked up to him.
“I love you so much,” he said, “I don’t want to hurt you anymore.”
“I love you too. And you won’t, I know that now.”
“How?”
“You wouldn’t be here now if you didn’t mean it.”
He smiled at me and we made passionate love all night. It was so good being in his arms. I’ve done it, I’ve finally done it. I have him.
***
It’s been so nice having Jamie all to myself this week, but it’s gone too quick. I can’t believe he’s leaving already. It’s too soon. Tears start rolling down my cheeks as we arrived at the base. He caressed my cheek, wiping away my tears.
“Hey, I’ll be home in a month for the wedding.”
“I know. It’s just that...we’ve had so little time together. I finally have you and you’re gone again.”
“Hey, I’m not gone. I am always with you, remember?” he said, raising my hand to show me his ring.
I smiled at him and leaned for a kiss.
“I love you more than you know,” he said holding me to his chest.
“Come back to me!”
“Always.”
We got out of the car and grabbed his bag out of the boot. He embraced me in the tightest hug I have ever had.
“I’ll be back before you know it.”
“Be safe!”
He held my hands and kissed my forehead, before slowly letting me go, walking into his base. His mate teasing him as soon as he walked through the gates. I watched him go to the plane. He turned around before getting on, looking at me, blowing me a kiss before he finally boarded. Before I got into the car my phone went off.
Miss you already. I’ll ring you when I land X
No. Don’t waste your call. Ring me in a couple of days. Love you X
Love you too baby girl X
He only gets one call a week. I’d rather him call me in a couple of days so I don’t have as long to wait the next week. They have their phones but they tend not to use them as often as they can be a distraction and can be used against them.
On the drive home, I ring Gemma and organise a night out with everyone. She’s going to phone them all for me. I need something to do to stop me worrying about Jamie out there, in a war zone.
The night was brilliant. We all danced the night away. We talked to Zoe about the wedding, Ben had his new fella around, George and Gemma were all lovey dovey, and then Nathan asked about Jamie. That set me off. I’m worried about him. I was before but I’m even more so now as we’re finally together and only just started at that. Plus the war out there seems to be getting worse by the minute. I need him to come home. I miss him already. My bed is going to be so cold without him there. I’ve just gotten use to him being there every night this past week.
“You know what guys? I’m going to head home.”
“Nooo. Come on Keira stay a big longer!”
“Honestly Gem, I just want my bed. It’s been an emotional day.”
“Okay. Get a taxi though!”
“I will,” I said hugging her.
I said my goodbyes and headed outside. There were no taxis in sight and when I rang the firms up, they didn’t have one for at least two hours. I decided to walk home, hopefully I can flag one down on my way. I walked on the main roads to be safe but no taxis whatsoever. I was ten minutes away from my home and the only way home was through a maze of alleyways.
I was five minutes away with three streets left to my home when I heard footsteps behind me. I walked quicker to make sure they weren’t following me, but they moved quicker too. Suddenly they grabbed my arm and pushed me up against the wall. I felt panic all over me, trying to breath as they held their arm to my throat.
I went to scream but they put their other hand over my mouth. They released my throat, throwing me to the ground. I started to scurry across the floor but they grabbed me by my hair and smacked me in the face. As they hit me, my head went backwards and hit the ground. A sharp pain suddenly forming in the back of my head. My head was spinning. I was seeing double of everything.
The next thing I know, they were on top of me. I couldn’t stop them because of the pain in my head. But I knew exactly what was going on.
He leaned over me smelling my hair as he kissed my forehead. I could feel tears rolling down my face as I just laid there. He looked me in the eyes as he stroked my face. That’s the first time I saw his face properly. A face I will never forget. He leaned down again next to my ear and whispered, “I’ve been waiting for this for a very long time.”
But before anything else could happen, I could hear laughter which made him move off me and bolt it. I closed my eyes, letting the tears escape my eyes. I sat against the wall, knees up and dropped my face, crying uncontrollably.
I don’t know how long it was that I was sat there for until the laughter got louder. I was just blanking everything out. I knew they were there but I was so out of it, I couldn’t hear what they were saying. I looked up to see Gemma staring at me. She tried to touch me but I quickly moved away. I didn’t want anyone to touch me.
“George, call for an ambulance. She’s not right.”
“On it!”
“Keira! Keira, talk to me. What happened?”
I couldn’t speak, I wanted to so badly but the words couldn’t come out. She looked at me and walked towards George. She was whispering to him but could still hear her.
“George, I’m worried. Have you seen the marks? I think she’s been attacked.”
“It’s okay baby. They’re on their way.”
The next thing I know, I was being examined in the hospital. They cleaned up my head and my cuts he had made. I also had to go for a scan to make sure there wasn’t any injuries on my brain as I hit the ground hard. They had to examine me everywhere. It was unpleasant. They did under my fingernails, swabbed my mouth and over my throat. I just wanted it to stop. After they finished, I just got into my hospital bed and laid there, staring at the walls. Gemma came around and looked me in the face.
“I’m going to ring Jamie.”
“NO!”
“Keira?”
“I don’t want him here. He doesn’t need to come back.”
“Okay.”
She left me alone and I could feel my eyelids falling. I overheard Gemma telling the police to wait until tomorrow to ask me questions just before my eyes gave in to sleep.
The next morning, I opened my eyes and panicked a little before realising where I was. I looked to the left and saw Jamie curled up fast asleep in one of the loungers. Seeing him I felt disgusted in myself. I curled up in bed, tugging my knees into my chest. I laid there for about hour when I heard Jamie get up from the chair.
“Hey,” he said softly, reaching for my hand.
I pulled my hand away. I couldn’t bare his touch at the minute. I felt some kind of guilt. Like I had betrayed him somehow.
“Okay baby. I’m going to sit in that chair waiting for you.”
He sat back down and waited patiently for me. It must have been days before I had the courage to speak to him.
“Jamie?” I cried.
He quickly moved onto the bed.
“I’m here.”
I leaped into his arms, crying. He grabbed me tight, stroking my hair as I sobbed into his shoulder.
“I’m sorry,” I muffled.
“Hey! Look at me!” he said, holding my chin up so I had to look into his ocean blue eyes, “you have nothing to be sorry for. It’s that scumbag who will be sorry once I find him.”
“No. Please. Please don’t do anything. I don’t want you to get into trouble or worse. I just want to forget about this.”
“Okay baby, if that’s what you want.”
“It is. Why are you here?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
“But the army?”
“You are more important than the army. Besides they are fine with me being here. They’ve let me have some personal leave. I had to come as soon as I got the phone call.”
“How?”
“Gemma rang the base and demanded for me. You know how she gets.”
I just looked at him, starting to cry again. I don’t know what I would be like if he wasn’t here. I don’t think I could get through this without him. If he didn’t come back, I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself and be the girl he had left behind.
I got him to allow the police to come in. I was ready to talk. He did offer to wait outside but I wanted him next to me, so he sat on the bed beside me, holding me as I told the detectives everything I could remember.
They told me they will try to use my description to find him but unfortunately there was no sign of him on their database from the DNA they got off me. I started to cry again and leaned into Jamie’s chest. The detectives left and I just sat there for a while holding onto Jamie as tight as I possibly could. He stroked my cheek where I had a scar from that monster.
“If they don’t find him…”
“If they don’t find him, I will. I will kill him for what he’s done to you.”
“Jamie you said you wouldn’t!”
“That’s before I heard what he’s done. Hearing it is a lot worse. If only I was still here!”
“Hey, it’s not your fault either. Don’t get yourself worked up.”
“Sorry. I love you so much. If anything worse happened to you. I don’t know what I’d have done if I lost you.”
“You’d have found someone else,” I laughed.
“Don’t. I’m being serious. I can’t lose you.”
“You’ll never lose me,” I said leaning in for a kiss.
He felt so good. My secure place. My safe haven. My everything. He makes everything feel better.
“I love you Jamie Michaels.”
He hugged me tighter and I ended up falling asleep on him.
