The Night The Sea Sang
“Every kingdom has a secret. Every prophecy begins with blood.” The moon bled. It hung low over the Black Sea, staining the waves crimson as thunder rolled across the heavens. The ocean, usually calm beneath the midnight sky, churned with unnatural fury. Far beneath the water’s surface, in the hidden kingdom of Atlantis, the Sirens knelt before their queen. Queen Nereids Tideborn stood atop a throne carved from white coral, her sapphire hair drifting around her like living water. Her emerald eyes were fixed on the glowing crystal floating above the royal altar. Crack. A thin fracture spread across its surface. The queen’s heart stopped. “No…” she whispered. The crystal was the Heart of the Tides, an ancient relic that had sealed away a terrifying power for over a thousand years. It had never cracked. Not once. The palace trembled violently. A haunting melody echoed through the kingdom, a song no siren had sung in centuries. The Song of Awakening. The royal guards rushed into the throne room. “Your Majesty!” one cried. “The sea beasts are fleeing the Abyss!” Another guard fell to one knee. “The Blood Moon has risen.” Nereids closed her eyes. The prophecy. She had prayed it would never come to pass. When the moon bleeds, When the sea sings, When blood becomes one… The forgotten child shall awaken. Three kingdoms shall kneel… Or burn. “The child…” Nereids whispered. “She’s alive.” ⸻ Hundreds of miles away, in a quiet fishing village, a young woman laughed as she raced along the shoreline. “Lyra!” her adoptive mother called from the cottage. “It’s getting late!” “I’m coming!” Lyra Ashbourne smiled, her bare feet splashing through the cold water. She loved the sea. It had always felt like home. The waves suddenly froze. Not with ice. With silence. Every gull vanished. Every fish disappeared. The wind stopped. Lyra frowned. “What…?” Then she heard it. A woman’s voice. Soft. Beautiful. Calling her name. “Lyra…” She turned sharply. No one was there. “Come home…” The ocean glowed with an eerie blue light. Her heart began pounding. The water slowly rose, curling upward into the shape of a woman with flowing hair. Lyra stumbled backward. “This can’t be real…” The figure smiled. Then… A deafening howl shattered the silence. From the forest, a pair of glowing amber eyes locked onto Lyra. Not human. A wolf. A massive black wolf stepped from the shadows, larger than any creature she had ever seen. It stared at her—not with hunger, but with recognition. For a heartbeat, the world stood still. Then the beast turned and disappeared into the darkness. Far away, in the Werewolf Kingdom, King Kael Blackwood woke with a violent gasp. His golden eyes glowed. His wolf growled inside him. She’s here. At the same moment, in the towering halls of the Vampire Empire, Prince Lucien Draven looked up from an ancient prophecy as the ruby pendant around his neck burned with heat. A slow smile crossed his lips. “So…” He closed the book. “The last heir has awakened.” Outside, thunder split the sky. The first move in a war that had slept for a thousand years had finally been made. And none of them knew… The greatest danger wasn’t the prophecy. It was the feelings that would grow between enemies. “Sometimes destiny doesn’t knock… it hunts.”
