“I miss you so much,” I tell Dougy that night before bed during our nightly FaceTime chat. “And I’m starting to think that I ought to return to Scotland for the next few weeks, during the time that Amy is here helping Jan. I’m feeling like I’m not all that necessary at the moment, especially if I’m not even well enough to be all that helpful in the mornings. Today all I did was keep Prince Theodor company for a few hours in the afternoon. He and I played a couple games of chess. Other than that, the day was a complete waste!”
“If ye want to come home for a little while, ye certainly can,” Dougy reminds me, sounding excited by the prospect. “I promised that ye could go back and forth as much as ye like, and I’m a wolf of my word.”
“I know, and I haven’t forgotten that,”
