Chapter 9

1000 Words
Chapter 9 It was a cliff when they stopped climbing the mountain, the kids jumped and played enthusiastically eager to see Adrian shift into his enormous dragon figure. It was not common for him to shift around commoners and he hadn't done that in years, especially after last time he went crazy. He rather preferred his human form, it was no less powerful despite being comparatively smaller than what he is in his Dragon figure. Avery was breathless and was panting hard. "You're such a weak woman," the man teased. "I'm not a Dragon you see" she was no less. What does he think of himself huh? She's not a person of his country, he can't be rude to her. The man scoffed and jumped off the cliff unexpectedly. It was so sudden and she didn't expect it at all. "Ahh.." She closed her eyes shut covering them with both of her palms. "Woahhh…." the kids were rather used to it as they witnessed the spectacle with their eyes wide open. When she heard the giggles, she opened her eyes carefully as she peeped from between her fingers. Her jaw fell to the ground, she couldn't believe what she saw. Adrian was no longer falling but soaring high in the sky with his massive dragon wings outstretched cutting through the air. The children's laughter filled the air as they ogled at the incredible sight. Adrian was Alpha dragon of Etheris, He was much bigger and stronger than others. He looked gorgeously royal and elegant too. Avery's heart raced as she looked at his majestic form. His scales ranged from deep blue to green. It looked regal as the sun shone brightly over him. His wings were big and strong, they carried him through the sky with much ease, it looked as if he didn't weigh anything. His horns were big and curved at the end but they were strong enough to land a fatal blow. His eyes were mesmerizing and intelligent and they had an otherworldly glow in them, they were still jade green but looked to be holding secrets of ages. His tale was pretty long and thick with spikes covering the upper part. The claws were sharp enough to cut through the mountain, Avery was frozen to her spot. He took a few rounds around the mountain top and seemed to have inhaled some air before he breathed out fire. Avery's initial fear turned into astonishment, she had never seen anything like this before. After a few more rounds, he turned into his human shape again. Soon, they returned to the castle. It was pretty much silent along the way as she was too stunned to speak anything, it took her some good time to register this much in her mind. Her heart was still beating violently. Adrian didn't try to communicate and was perfectly comfortable with silence. Why should he care about this woman? Ha! She's just temporary. After they returned, Adrian went on to look after important matters of the kingdom whereas Avery was taken to her room by Lily. Lily was a thin and bubbly girl. She was beautiful with brown hair and white skin. Her eyes were gray and they shined with liveliness. She chimed happily most of the time. Lily noticed Avery being shaken and stiff, so she decided to lighten the mood. "Did you see Your Majesty turn?" Lily asked cautiously, her voice filled with curiosity. Avery nodded her head vigorously. "How was it?" Lily asked excitedly and bubbling as she came and sat on the bed next to her. "I never imagined things like this existed. It was like a fairy tale Lily. His dragon form was so majestic and his wings were so big and beautiful…they seemed to have covered the sky,"Avery explained as she looked in the air, seemingly remembering the view in front of her eyes. "I know it's too much for you suddenly, but you know even I haven't seen him transform before" Lily informed sadly, she has always wanted to see it but never got the chance. "Why? Don't you live here?" Avery questioned, her brows were furrowed. "Your majesty rarely turns, you're really lucky that you got the chance to see him" Lily informed her seriously. It was indeed true. The next few days went by in a blur, the castle was getting decorated for the wedding and all the people seemed busy. Avery learned that it'll be a big wedding as Adrian is the king and many rulers of different countries and his own countrymen would be joining. Lily was also much busier than usual but being Avery's personal care maid, she had to spare her time and watch over Avery. She ensured if she ate properly and how she dressed and groomed herself over the past few days. Avery learned many new things and got along well with Lily. She was a nice and lovely soul. They became friends much quicker. The wedding day was finally here. The castle was adorned like a bride itself, flowers, leaves, candles, white sheets. A big beautiful chandelier hanging in the middle, it couldn't be more beautiful. The officials and royals were joining and were greeted by Kyle and other ministers in Adrian's court. Avery was almost ready, she had put on a beautiful white wedding dress as her hairs were decorated with baby's breath. Lily put natural makeup on her beautiful plum face. Since the products used here were natural, Avery's skin and hair quality was improved. She looked much more relaxed and beautiful. It was the time for the wedding. Avery walked down to the altar where Adrian was standing. He was in a royal attire covered in gold and pearls and gems. It looked like a traditional attire of a king. Small dragons were imprinted on it. He looked really handsome. Avery almost drooled looking at him. She was so lost staring at his lips as soon as she was in front of him.
