When Adrian looked up at her face again, it was ice cold as earlier. He listened to her intently. " I'm really injured right now, it'll take a while before I heal and I'm not so familiar with this place and I can't find my belongings either…" She continued as she felt more helpless if she had her phone, she could have contacted Daniel but neither she had it nor she remembered his digits even if she were to buy a new phone. "Can you help me with that? I want to find them quickly and return to my home…please" she added. She was very tense about her situation, it was a castle in the middle of a forest where many carnivores would be roaming freely. She was safe under the watchful gaze of these people but Richie and Kiya. Her heart hurt every time she thought of them. The man spoke after a long silence "What will I get in return?" He questioned her coldly. Avery almost fainted after she heard him. Is he kidding? Any human would be decent enough to help someone in her situation but this man still wanted something in return. "I'll pay you after I'm back home" she rolled her eyes before offering. The man snickered "ridiculous! Do you think I lack money?" he questioned her mockingly and looked deep into her eyes. Avery scanned the surroundings around her intently before shaking her head "No".
She thought for a moment "Then what do you want?" She asked him sincerely, it's her only possible way of finding Richie and Kiya. She can't be insincere about it. "You have to marry me" He blurted out with an indifferent attitude. She wasn't prepared for such a condition when she heard him she thought she was mistaken "what did you say?".
"I hate to repeat myself, woman" The man stated and looked at Avery amusingly. She couldn't believe her ears. "I mean…why would you want to marry me ?" She was confused, why would a man like her want to marry her? She wasn't even rich but just a normal woman with no parents. "We'll sign a contract and you'll have to follow that contract, after that specific period of time you'll be free to return. I'll make sure of that but until then you'll have to pretend to be my wife" He kept the conditions in front of her "if you want to find your siblings and return home safely" he added. A shiver ran down her spine when she heard him talking. He was really domineering. She wondered what would happen if she didn't agree to his proposal. Will she die? She couldn't afford to imagine. She didn't really have any other options but to agree to it. She was reluctant but she knew better. She agreed to him "okay". The man nodded his head and asked her to follow him to his study. The hallways were long and every room was quite far from each other. Avery was severely injured so she was walking really slow. Seeing the woman limping, Adrian scooped her up in his arms and made his way to the study.
