They left the castle soon after dinner, Adrian and Avery returned to their opulent palace. There was an unsettled tension between them, she felt. He had been quiet throughout the journey and even during the dinner, he didn't talk much except some normal work matters with his father. They tried to persuade Avery to talk more but he gave her a cold glare everytime, so she knew it was better to stay quiet. She didn't want to be involved in his family matters anyways. Her goal was to leave this place as soon as possible.
His eyes were cold and distant like a frozen lake. She found it really hard to talk and connect with him.
After reaching home, they quickly got out of the car. Lily was waiting for Avery at the entrance. Lily bowed down to both of them as they came inside. Adrian walked back to his study whereas Avery was ushered by Lily to her room. "I missed you" Lily whispered as she hugged her friend. "I missed you too, Lily" she patted her back. "How was it? I hope they weren't too overwhelming." Lily questioned, concerned, "Ni, it was better than I expected " . Avery heaved a sigh as she reassured Lily. "Actually….." Lily took a pause before she resumed "there's bad news." Avery became visibly frustrated "what is it now?"
