Some stories stick around, you know? Others... well, they get a serious makeover.

That's exactly what happens when Darius Blackwood stumbles upon a dusty old journal. It belonged to the famous Alaric, a guy known as the Storykeeper. What Darius finds inside is mind-blowing – a truth so big it flips everything he thought he knew about the past upside down.

Turns out, history wasn't just forgotten. It was actively messed with.

For ages, there's been this shadowy group called the Circle. They've been busy erasing people, messing with memories, and basically feeding everyone a made-up version of their own history.

But Darius isn't alone in this. He's got Luna Vale with him, and together they team up with this really odd bunch of people. We're talking about a former Archivist, someone who actually left the Circle, and just regular folks who are brave enough to question everything they've ever been told.

As more and more forgotten names start popping back up, hidden villages start to stir, and ancient witness circles appear out of nowhere, Darius gets it. Their real fight isn't for some kingdom or a fancy crown.

It's about the truth.

See, whoever gets to write history gets to decide what people think they are. It’s a pretty powerful position.

Now, these first real witnesses, the ones who remember the *actual* past, are starting to gather again. They've got questions that no leader can shut down and truths that belong to no one person.

The thing is, the Circle has spent centuries guarding their twisted version of history.

And they'll do whatever it takes to make sure the *real* story never gets told.

The Beast in the Dark
Luna Vale first heard the creature lurking beneath the city while standing ankle-deep in someone else’s blood. It pooled across the cracked concrete, thick and glossy under the flickering warehouse lights, slowly soaking into her canvas shoes as rain hammered the rusted roof above like a thousand impatient fists. The sound echoed through the abandoned structure in hollow, metallic waves, as if the storm itself had broken in and refused to leave. The man at her feet was still breathing. Barely. His chest rose with a wet, uneven rattle, each inhale sounding like it scraped against broken glass. One hand twitched beside a silver knife, just out of reach, his fingers weakly curling as if he still believed he could finish what he started. Luna had no idea who he was, why he'd attacked her, or what had sent him flying across the warehouse before he could kill her. One moment she'd been walking home in the rain, and the next she was here, standing over a dying man who looked at her like she was something he'd been sent to erase. A growl rumbled from the darkness. Low. Deep. Not human. It vibrated through the floorboards and up her bones, settling somewhere behind her ribs like a second heartbeat. The air itself seemed to tighten, as if the warehouse had suddenly become too small for whatever was inside. She backed away instinctively, her heel sliding in the blood. Her breath hitched. “Who’s there?” she demanded, though her voice sounded far too small against the storm. Silence answered. Then lightning flashed. For a single heartbeat, the entire warehouse was illuminated in stark white light, and in that instant she saw them: gold eyes in the dark. Too still. Too aware. Watching her. Then gone. Something stirred beneath her skin – a heat, not fear. A strange, unfamiliar pulse that wasn't panic or adrenaline. It felt like recognition. Like something inside her had just woken up and was listening back. The man coughed violently. His eyes, wider than they should have been possible, shook as they locked onto her face. Not with hatred now. With terror. “You,” he rasped. Luna hesitated, then crouched despite herself, ignoring the blood soaking into her jeans. “What happened to you?” she asked quietly. His bloodied hand shot out and grabbed her wrist. The moment he touched her, pain exploded behind her eyes. Not physical pain. Something deeper. A forest under a red moon. Fire licking through ancient trees. A woman screaming her name. A black wolf standing over bone and ash, its fur soaked in blood that wasn’t its own. The scent of iron and smoke, and something so old it predated language itself. Luna ripped her arm free with a gasp, stumbling backward so hard she nearly fell. “What was that?” she whispered, shaking. The man smiled weakly, or tried to. “It’s true,” he whispered. “What is?” she demanded, her voice sharper now. “The blood survived,” he said, as if that explained everything. Luna’s stomach tightened. “What blood?” His breathing turned ragged again. “He’ll smell it on you.” A growl answered him. Closer this time. The temperature in the warehouse plummeted, her breath fogging in front of her face. Shadows thickened along the walls, stretching unnaturally, bending toward the center of the room as if something was stepping through them rather than out of them. A shape emerged. Tall. Human. Almost. He wore a long black coat that clung to him like a second skin, rainwater dripping from its edges in slow, deliberate drops. His presence didn’t announce itself with sound—it pressed into the space, heavy and absolute, like gravity had shifted in his direction. Cold, ancient eyes locked onto hers. And something in her answered. Not fear. Recognition. He stopped. Just slightly. Like he had felt it too. The King’s Wrath “You should have obeyed him,” he said. His voice was calm, controlled, dangerous in its restraint. Luna straightened, despite every instinct screaming at her to run. “I don’t take orders from people who try to stab me.” The wounded man convulsed suddenly, his body arching off the ground. Bones snapped beneath his skin with sickening cracks, reshaping, twisting, forcing something else out. Luna stumbled back in horror. “What the hell—” The stranger moved instantly. One moment he was standing several feet away. The next, he was there. His hand closed around the creature’s throat mid-transformation and lifted it off the ground as if it weighed nothing. His eyes shifted. Gold. Bright and burning like molten metal. “You crossed into my territory,” he said quietly. The creature struggled once. Then went still. A sickening snap echoed through the warehouse. Silence fell like a dropped blade. Luna stared, unable to process what she had just seen. “What are you?” she breathed. The man dropped the body without looking at it. “You need to come with me.” “That’s not an answer.” “It’s the only one that matters.” “No,” she said immediately, stepping back again. “I don’t even know who you are.” A distant howl answered her refusal. Then another. The warehouse doors exploded inward. Wood shattered. Metal screamed. Rain and wind poured inside as shapes flooded through the opening—wolves, but not like any she had ever seen. Too large. Too coordinated. Their eyes glowed faintly in the dark, fixed on her with terrifying focus. Chaos erupted. One lunged. Luna barely had time to inhale before something inside her snapped awake. Golden fire burst across her skin. Not flames exactly—light, raw and searing, erupting from beneath her flesh as if it had been trapped there her entire life. The wolf hit an invisible force mid-air and was thrown backward into a stack of crates, splintering wood and steel. The entire room went still. Even the storm seemed to hesitate. Luna stared at her own hands, trembling. “What… what did I just do?” The stranger looked at her differently now. Like everything had changed in the space of a heartbeat. “Luna Vale,” he said slowly. She froze. “How do you know my name?” He stepped closer, rain dripping from his coat, eyes still faintly gold. “My name is Darius Blackwood,” he said. “Alpha of the Blackwood Pack.” The air tightened around those words, as if the world itself recognized their weight. “You’ve been hidden,” he continued. “From who?” she asked, though she already feared the answer. Darius’s gaze darkened. “Everyone.” Outside, the storm answered with rising howls, circling the warehouse like a tightening noose. “They know you’ve awakened,” he said. Luna swallowed hard. “Who?” Darius didn’t look away from her. “All of them.”
