Alexa walked in a hurry. But as she passed through the lobby of the building, she came across a large mirror, and that brought her steps to a stop. Alexa looked at herself once again. She was inside the body of someone named Jessica Moore and she was going to be matched for a business wedding.
While observing herself, Alexa realized that Jessica had beautiful blue eyes, a sharp nose with high bones and a thin jaw that looked almost perfect. One of Alexa's hands moved to stroke her long hair. Jessica had long brown hair and it shimmered like the hair of princesses in Disney stories. It was very different from how Alexa looked the last time she looked in the mirror.
"Ms. Moore!"
The voice made Alexa gasp. She was about to run, to escape Anna again. But Anna moved faster and managed to hold Alexa's hand. Alexa turned around and looked at Anna.
"You've got the wrong person, Anna. I'm not Jessica, I'm Alexa. I don't know how, but my body and Jessica's body have been swapped."
But Anna shook her head. Anna immediately explained, "You can talk when you want to. But for now, I'll take you home."
"Home?"
----
The house Anna spoke of was a large mansion in the center of New York City. From a distance, Anna could see the vast estate filled with flowers and uniquely styled garden lights. A car driven by a driver took Alexa further inside. They entered a tall gate that looked like a fairytale palace. There was a pond with a fountain at the top and it was the best decoration of the flower garden in the mansion.
But Alexa couldn't stop staring in awe after she entered the mansion's territory. Because as soon as the car stopped, Anna led the way and invited Alexa to go downstairs, seeing a view that was much more luxurious than the flower garden at the front of the mansion.
"You should get some rest, Miss Moore," Anna said, opening the door in front of her.
And Alexa's eyes couldn't deny the luxury in front of her. The mansion was spacious with its walls painted white and furnished with gold and silver ornaments. Plus, expensive paintings with high artistic value were hanging on the walls.
How was Alexa supposed to deal with all this?
Anna turned around, smiled and looked at Alexa. "Since you hit the door, your head may have a slight injury. So you should sleep today." Anna pointed at the path in front of her, and the two of them walked in the direction she pointed. "By the way... why do you want to refuse an arranged marriage, Ms. Moore?"
Alexa's eyebrows knitted together. She took a step back. Suddenly, Alexa realized something; that everything wasn't real.
"This isn't right, Anna. I shouldn't be here," Alexa said. She tried to convince herself. She approached Anna and took her by both shoulders. "Look at me carefully, Anna. I'm not Jessica, I'm someone else living in Jessica's body. And I don't know why this is happening to me. The last thing I remember is trying to crash myself into a train. I wanted to end my life and I ended up here instead."
"..."
As Anna didn't react and just stared at her with a strange look, Alexa let out a long sigh. She removed both her hands from Anna, feeling that what she was thinking would end up in vain. Anna wouldn't believe her words, which sounded like nonsense.
"Alright, Anna. You'd better show me where my room is."
Anna mumbled and smiled at the end. "Sure."
The two of them walked towards the second floor, passing by the stairs with strong and beautiful marble floors. And when they reached the front of the room, Anna opened the door for Alexa.
"Have a good rest, Ms. Moore."
As it turned out, the view of the living room and flower garden was no better than the view of the room now in front of Alexa. Alexa covered her mouth in complete shock. It was every woman's dream room!
As Alexa stepped into the room, she scanned her eyes around. Modern furniture, classic ornaments, soft pink wall paint. This was the perfect room. And Alexa's gaze stopped at the king-sized bed in the center of the room. Alexa felt the surface, it was like silk.
"Is this my room?" Alexa asked for confirmation.
"Of course, Ms. Moore," Anna replied, though she was also confused by her boss's very strange behavior today. Anna bowed her head and asked permission to leave. "I'll leave you alone to rest. I hope you have a good time and can come back healthy tomorrow."
Alexa turned around, seeing Anna's departure and how the woman closed the door to the room. Alexa spun around, she saw everything in the room. She then found another mirror. She approached the mirror and said, "This is a good life. Is God giving me a gift? Is it my destiny to live as Jessica Moore?"
Next to the mirror, there was a bookcase. And there was one book that caught Alexa's attention while she was looking in the mirror. Alexa picked it up, it was a diary and she began to read the contents of the diary.
Dear Diary,
Today my father took me to the doctor again. The doctor said my heart condition is really weak. It sounds like I'll be dead in a few months.
Does that mean I can meet Mom in heaven soon?
If I have to die from this disease, can I declare my love for Oscar Macmiller before I die?
I've liked him for a long time and I want him to know how I feel before I die.
Alexa was silent, she looked back at herself in the mirror. Determined, Alexa nodded firmly.
"Looks like... I'm swapping destinies with Jessica Moore. We will end up dead. But for the sake of a better life, I vowed to see Oscar Macmiller for Jessica. I will fulfill her wish before she dies. I can definitely do it."
