A bold mistress.
Sollene
"Bye sweethearts and make sure you're good for aunt Ria, ok." I said while waving at my two little troublemakers.
"Ok, bye mommy." They shouted in unison before they ran inside whilst holding hands.
I smiled at their backs before I turned to Ria with a grateful look.
"Don't do that, I don't do emotions," she pointed at me as she backed away.
I burst out into laughter as I shook my head.
Ria and her allergy to any type of emotions!
"Fine I won't say much but thank you for this," I said raising my hands in surrender.
"Your welcome, now go have some fun before I change my mind." She replied.
I feigned a shocked look before I ran in my heels to my car.
Once I got in, I took out the mirror from my clutch and gave myself a once-over for the umpteenth time just to make sure I looked perfect for my date.
I then clutched the steering wheel and excitedly drove to Alaric. He is currently at his favorite restaurant where I had made reservations for us to celebrate our seventh wedding anniversary in a private room with a balcony overlooking the entire city.
But we couldn't both go because our nanny had an emergency just an hour before we were due to leave.
Actually the ideal situation would have been staying at home to celebrate together but I know Alaric had been looking forward to going to the restaurant after a recent busy and hectic period at work.
Therefore I had insisted he go alone and I stayed with the kids.
Thankfully though I had called my best friend Ria to vent and she told me to bring the kids to her house after scolding me for not reaching out to her for help.
In my defense it was so last minute that I didn't think she would be able to make time.
Anyways it has been barely an hour since Alaric left and I haven't even removed my makeup so we can still spend our anniversary together, I thought as I pulled up to the restaurant.
A slight smile tugged at my lips as I walked in.
"Good evening Mrs Valemont," the manager greeted as she approached.
"Good evening Rose, I believe Alaric is already in the private room," I said flicking my eyes towards it's direction.
"Yes, Mrs. Valemont, though he has some friends with him." She replied as a weird look flashed in her eyes before she quickly concealed it with a professional smile.
I just nodded and walked towards the room, figuring the look must be because he is with his friends instead of his wife on our anniversary since we frequently come here.
Though the mention of his friends reduced some of the excitement I had.
Honestly we used to be on good terms the first few years I was married to Alaric but somehow that changed in the past two years.
They have been rude and dismissive towards me both in front of Alaric and more so behind his back.
And whenever I bring up their treatment of me he defends them, I guess it is hard to imagine the worst of people you grew up with.
Anyways I don't care about them , I am just here to spend the evening with my husband, I told myself as I neared the room.
I could already picture his expression When he sees me.
Maybe he will smile and excitedly pull me into his arms or he will act cool and indifferent in front of his friends but I know for sure he will be surprised.
I reached the door and it was slightly open.
I was about to push it wider when one of his friends' voice drifted through the gap.
"So why is your clingy wife not with you today?"
I peeked through the small gap and barely saw Alaric.
"Oh because "childcare" fell through," Alaric replied doing the air bunnies gesture with his fingers.
The entire room burst out into laughter as my chest tightened with pain.
"Don't tell me you made the nanny leave again and she fell for it again!" Another male voice said mockingly.
"Well she insisted that I leave and enjoy without her." He replied nonchalantly.
"What a loser, what kind of wife asks her husband to leave on their anniversary." A feminine voice scoffed.
My eyes started to sting as a sharp pain shot through my heart.
"How could he speak of me like this with his friends." I asked myself.
"Honestly I don't know why you put up with her Alaric," She continued before I could even fathom an answer in my mind.
“She's so clingy,” another man added. “You can't even spend one evening without her calling.”
Alaric chuckled.
“I told you. She won't be here tonight.”
“Thank God.” Came the reply.
I clenched my fist as I decided to push the door open.
"At least now you can spend the evening with the one who truly matters," the person said in unison with me opening the door.
Bang!
The sight I saw froze me and for a second I wished I hadn't decided to open the door.
Alaric is sat on a sofa playing with a woman's hair as she leaned on his shoulder.
And the worst part, I recognize her.
Eva freaking Reed.
The daughter of my mom's late best friend, My family's favorite daughter.
The girl who had spent years taking pieces of my life without even having to ask.
"What the hell Alaric?" I shouted as the entire room turned towards me.
He quickly removed his hand from her hair and scrambled to stand up.
"What are you doing here." He stammered.
I didn't reply as it registered in my mind that not only was my husband cheating on me but he was cheating on me with Eva Reed.
