Chapter 4

1020 Words
After university, while I was about to leave, Jay stopped me to ask if he could take me somewhere. I wasn't planning on going home this early either, so I agreed. Also by now, it was evident to me that I enjoyed spending my time with Jay. While we were walking, I was still talking to him about random subjects when I didn't realise we had reached a bakery. He went inside and I followed him, not knowing what we were doing here. " Hey, brother! " Jay called to the man behind the counter. " Oh! Jaylon, you're here already? " wait Jaylon? Jay looked at my perplexed expression. " Wait! you didn't think my name was just the letter J? " The letter J? My eyes widened more. " No! I thought it was J- A- Y, not just the letter J. " The man behind the counter got our attention back to him when he placed a basket on the counter. I completely forgot we were talking to him " Here's what you texted me to prepare. " He then held out his hand to me. " I'm Julian, Jaylon's brother. " I shook his hand and smiled." Nice to meet you. Jaylon and Julian. very familiar sounding names. " Julian laughed at my comment. " Yeah, but there is a middle brother as well to break the spell. Jericho, but we call him Jim. " " Jim for Jericho? " Jay answered my question this time. "yeah I suggested Jerry but he didn't like it. actually, he wanted to be called Jim." he whisperedthelast part. " His favourite actor's name is Jim. " I giggled at that." ok! ok! I get it. " " Well now you two should leave or it will be too late for your picnic. " Julian said. " picnic? " I asked. Jay gave Julian an angry and annoyed look. " Well it was supposed to be a surprise but my brother here couldn't keep his mouth shut.. " " Well, I'm sorry if I tried to warn you about you wasting your time, and that too on Jim's name. " I couldn't help but laugh and Julian looked pleased with himself. AFTER SOME TIME. Jay took me to a spot he had found for the picnic. He took me through the forest first, towards a place I never knew even existed. It was a small clearing right next to a beautiful stream. There were many beautiful and rare flowers, showing their beautiful colours under the sunlight. I let out a breath, awestruck by the view in front of me. " This place... it is beautiful, " I said to J as he was setting the blanket. " It indeed is. " " But why didn't anyone know about this before? " I mean knowing our town, it was rare to see a beautiful place and not see anyone making tourist spots there. We sat down on the blanket opposite each other and I looked at the things that Julian had prepared for us. There were lunchboxes full of sandwiches, muffins, boiled eggs, noodles, sausages and some juice bottles. " Well the people of the town are sort of lazy, they never come out here. They even believe that there are no wild animals here. " " because there aren't, " I said looking at J. He gave me a look that said it clearly that there were. What? but my entire life I was told that there were no wild animals. Maybe J is right but then again lazy could not be the reason. Soon the sun started to set. The view only got better. " J, can I ask you something? " He hummed in response, encouraging me to continue. " Why are you so quiet around the rest of the people from our school? " J sighed and sat up before answering. " I don't like opening up to people. " " Well, you aren't like that with me. " J smiled with an unrecognisable emotion in his eyes. " Well you are different and you aren't the same with others as you are with me either. " " Because you are different. " this time I said it. And this time I felt it. The same emotion I felt with the white wolf from my dream. " J... " I called out to him. " Yeah? " " I think you were the white wolf in my dream. " his head snapped towards me hearing this. Like he wasn't expecting me to say this. " I mean, my new beginning. " his expression from before, which I wasn't able to read changed. He visibly relaxed and then he smiled. As it was starting to get dark, me and J packed up to leave. I was so glad J was with me because if the thing about the animals were true, I wouldn't wanna be here alone. As soon as we reached the road that separates the forest from the town J stopped me to say goodbye. " I would've walked you home but I gotta go. " But even though he was talking I wasn't listening like I didn't really hear him. because right there, far in the forest I saw a set of eyes staring at me. "J... is that... is that a wolf?" I said pointing towards the big brown animal who was just staring at us. J quickly turned around looking in the direction of the wolf. I was waiting for a command to run, but to my surprise, J wasn't panicking at all. Instead, his eyes showed anger. A different face of J. He wasn't scared, He was the one in control. I looked back at the wolf. He looked at me one more time then left. But the last look, there was something strange about it, it felt soft like he wanted to say something, like he wanted to give me a message. And I felt like looking into his soft eyes I heard his voice in my heart somewhere. "come home."
