ETHAN'S POV MONDAY - JULY 8, 7:30AM - VILLA ROMANO, KITCHEN The house was quiet. The kind of quiet that only exists in the early morning at the villa, before everyone else wakes up. The only sounds were the low gurgle of the coffee machine and Nonna humming softly to herself by the stove. Luca was already at the counter, elbows resting on the marble, scrolling through his phone. His hair was still messy from sleep. I poured two cups and slid one over to him. "Morning," I said. He looked up at me over the rim of his cup. He studied my face for a second. "You look better." "I feel better." I held the cup with both hands and hesitated. The words were sitting heavy in my chest. "I want to take Milla out today. Just us." Luca went completely still. He put his cup down slowly. "Where?"
