Room Mate

  “Mommy I want to go get a cake for daddy’s birthday day.” “Okay honey let mommy go get dressed and we can go.” “ Okay honey get in the car. Are you buckled up?” “Yes, mommy.”  The next thing that I remember is hearing the cop cars and the ambulance. I woke up crying hoping it was just a dream but nope. I heard my so called father yelling my name to make him and Mandy his girlfriend breakfast. It wasn’t always like this tho, just when I turned 10 it all started right after my mother died. It got worse after my dad started dating Mandy. I get dressed and go down stairs and start cooking. I quickly made them eggs. As I was about to head out the door I hear Mandy yelling because her food tasted disgusting. Then my father pulls me by the hair and yanks me to the kitchen. He throws me on the floor and starts kicking the s**t out of me. I feel the bruises start to come. I just lay there not daring to move. Finally, he was done. I see blood on the ground as he just laughs at me. I get up as fast as I can and run out the door and to the school. I get to my locker thank god I got here before anyone else. I grab my first aid kit and run to the bathroom to clean up. I hear the bell ring and I walk as slow and fast as I can to get there in time. After class I go to the nurse and ask for ibuprofen. The nurses thinks I need it for my cramps and it’s really for my beatings. I get threw all my classes and finally school was over. I avoided all the kids who like to trip me or call me a w***e today. Thank god for that.        I work as a waitress at a dinner next to the school. I’ve been working here since I was 14. My father and Mandy think I stay after school to help one of my teachers. Surprisingly they bought it. They don’t go to conferences or anything like that so it works out. I hide my uniform in my bag. Finally work was over and I had to go back to the s**t house. As soon as I walk threw the door Mandy punches me in the face for being 1 minute late. She yells your late. Now get your ass in the kitchen and make dinner. You smell like you’ve been doing drugs. You becoming a druggie to just like your slut mother. I just ignored her and took my bag to my room and then went down stairs to cook dinner.   I made spaghetti because they usually like it sometimes. I guess tonight’s not one of those nights. My father yells at me are you trying to kill us. Your cooking is disgusting just like you. Your nothing but a nasty little w***e. Once again I’m getting beat. But, this time he’s punching me. Ugh, I wish they would just kill me. Finally he stopped punching me and told me to go to my room he didn’t want to see my ugly face anymore. Once, I got to my room and laid on my bed I was out. I woke up 4 hours later due to a nightmare and of course I had to pee. So I walked quietly past my fathers and Mandy's room. And I stopped when I heard my name. Honey you need to kick her out before our son is born. I don’t want him to know he has a w***e for a sister. Please do it tomorrow. Yes, I will kick her out tomorrow morning. Then she will be out of our lives for good and we can be a happy family. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I didn’t even know Mandy was pregnant. But, I walked past there room and went into the bathroom. Then, walked past their room again. Once I got to my room I grabbed my duffle bag out of my closet and started packing my stuff. I grabbed all the money I’ve been saving and the money I got after my mom died. I grabbed my clothes, pictures of me and my mom the ones that didn’t get destroyed. I threw the duffle bag out the window and into the bushes.
