Chapter 1 Luke, a rich elderly man from Texas, decides to visit his father who lives in another country, it was not long before he realized that his fiancee whom he promised to marry when he gets back, had remarried, she was tired of waiting and she left there engagement ring on the table. His joyous mood suddenly turned sour, as he decides to find out where she went, and who dared married her. “You can no longer visit me the way you want!.” She said as soon as he opened the door. “I belong to someone else now!, you should find someone you're age.” Her words stabbed his heart, yes he was ten years older than her, but she was meant to be his, and his alone. “Do you know whom you are talking to?!, I am Sir Luke Despora, and no one dared insult me!.” His voice echoed through the walls, and sent fear through the spines of her neighbours. “How could you do this to me?.” The sound of the table, made her jump. “You promised to be back in six months, six months turned to six years, how is that my fault, when you could not even keep your promise!.” Like promised June, that he will be back six months later, but things did not go as planned, things were hard for him, as his fathers company was almost destroyed by reckless staff, but June was not aware of all of this, all she felt in his absence, was emptiness. He tried to come close to her and comfort her, but suddenly felt a hand on his collar. “How dare you try to seduce my wife!.” He turned around only to see his father's company's biggest competitor, “You?, are you are husband?.” He smirked, and held the waist of his wife, “what more evidence do you want?.” June was perplexed, it was evident on her face that she was not happy, and wanted no part of this face off. Luke was happy that she replaced him someone who was wealthy, it shows she has food taste. “I see, you were with me, only for my money.” June bowed her head, if only he knew what she went through, and the reason for her marriage, he would not condemn her, he would rescue her. Luke walked out of her house, and into his car, once he was out of sight, June pushed her husband away, her husband Harvey, in his rage, slapped her and pushed her to the floor. She staggered as she tried to get up her head, and heart pounding. “This is why you said you needed a vacation right?, so you could reunite with your ex boyfriend.” She had had, enough, she pushed him, he fell and when she saw that he was not getting up, she went to him, and placed her ear on his heart. She hurriedly called for an ambulance. Fear filled her bones, and she prayed that he should be alright, she did not mean to harm him, how could be a window so soon, her mother in law, would torment her and make her do all sorts of things. “I knew you were a bad omen.” She yelled at her when they were both in the hospital. “Someone who could abandon her fiancee, and marry someone else does not deserve to be loved.” The nurses told her to be quiet because, she was in the hospital, and they observed decorum. “Then tell this evil woman to leave or else, i would do something worse!.” June had no choice but to leave, with her head bowed low, and all eyes on her, she stood not knowing where to go. She had no family Luke was all she had, and now she had lost him forever. Luke was driving but his thoughts were far from the road, he tried to concentrate but the tears kept coming. He had rejected so many women abroad, trying his best to be faithful, but he ended up, betrayed. June sat in front of Luke's house, she could not go to her husband's house, and she knew no one else to ask for help. Luke saw her sitting, but ignored her and drove right in. “I'm sure he saw me, what do I do?.” Not too long, a servant came out to meet her. “Madam, please come with me.” She took her to the guest room. “ You can sleep here for as long as you want, that's an order from the boss.” She fell on the bed, she thought Luke had abandoned her, she never knew he would come back, she would have waited. It was too late now, she was stuck with an abusive husband, and a controlling mother in law. Harvey regained consciousness, and wasted no time accusing June of his misfortune. “She pushed me mom, and for what?, because I wanted to act as the husband that I am, or I'm i not her husband.” His mother nodded, she never believed her son could tell a lie, as her only child she protected him with everything she had, and now he was fighting for his life, she would teach that witch a lesson. In Luke's mansion, everywhere was silent, it was like everyone was mute, June could not bear the silence anymore and decided to sing very loudly. A knock on her door, interrupted her dance moves. “The master lost his father, and we are in mourning ma'am, it is not right for you to sing.” Her mood dropped drastically, does the universe love making people orphans?. She wished she could be with him, and comfort him, but why couldn't she, when she was not bound by her husband's laws currently. She bravely went to his room and knocked on the door. When he did not respond, she opened. “Why are you here?, i thought I could no longer visit you, but you could visit me, is that fair?.” June scanned the room, it was unlike Luke to be messy. “What happened here?!.” Her presence irritated him and he threw her out, she laid on the floor and closed her eyes not willing to move.
