I huffed with frustration as I made my way to the lounge, slumping into the couch in defeat. How I had managed to orchestrate such a disaster was beyond me. Alex followed behind me, setting my drink down on the table in front of me as he announced that the pizza was on its way. “I’m so sorry for ruining dinner,” I apologized again, my voice filled with embarrassment. He waved off my apology with an easy smile. “Don't worry about it. It's just food. Besides, the rest of the evening has been pretty great, right?” he assured me as he sipped at his glass of wine, hovering nearby. I inspected the angry red blotch on my palm.
