I headed toward him, the grass wet and slippery between my toes as my legs carried me forward despite the millions of warnings ringing in my head. When I got to him, he reached out and took my hand. I felt a warmth trickling through me as if his touch emanated heat. "You don't have to..." he reminded me, clearly picking up on my reluctance. I took a deep breath and shook my head to clear it. "No, I want to," I replied in a voice that didn't sound very certain. He gave me a small smile, then he tugged me along behind him. "Just let me know if you change your mind, okay?" he said, looking back over his shoulder at me with an expression of understanding. I appreciated it and gave him a nod and a small smile in return, grateful for his reassurance. The garden was gorgeously landscaped,
