I suddenly remembered that he had mentioned that he wasn't on speaking terms with his family and felt awkward having asked him the question. "I'm not sure," he admitted. "I haven't spoken to them in years and to be honest, I really don't know what they would think. I suppose it's not something we need to worry about though," he finished with a resigned shrug. "Why haven't you spoken to them in so long?" I asked, unable to restrain my curiosity.
