Minutes after my feet hit the ground I could feel the cold creeping up on me, even for me this is cold. Everything in the forest is covered in a thick blanket of fresh snow making my surroundings calm and very quiet.
North west I reminded myself the last words Jace told me as they dropped me to begin my long trek. Deciding wolf form would be best so I can get a few miles before night fall, quickly I stripped down to bare skin and slipped my clothes safely in my bag. I cracked my neck and rolled my shoulders to loosen up a bit, I pictured my beautiful wolf in my head and my bones began to crack and rearrange themselves. My canines elongated as pure white fur erupted from my pores, large white paws took over for my hands and feet.
You shouldn't keep me locked up for so long. She said through a yawn as she stretched out her long white legs and shook her fur.
I know, I know, sorry. I keep my replies short, In honesty there is no reason I dont shift I just usually dont feel much need.
I trot over to my bag and carefully pick the straps up in my mouth, with my snout high in the air I figure out my directions and let her take over. Essentially taking the back seat in my own head I watch through wolf eyes as trees blur passed, she runs at an incredible speed so much faster than anyone in my pack. I usually let Damon beat me when we would race so I didnt bruise his big Alpha ego. After a couple hours of running she stopped at a trickling stream for a quick drink, with our incredible sense of smell and hearing we could sense a large animal near by.
Food. Was her only thought before she took off after the animal.
Elk calf, a lone elk. Hmm odd he is much to small to be alone, where is his mother? My ear twitched at the sound of a twig snapping close by, quietly I stalked around to investigate with my belly low to the ground so I would not alert the creature. I came upon a mountain lion stalking the little elk as his own meal, the evil voice in my head told me and my wolf it would be much more fun to chase and kill the lion than the little defenseless elk.
The lions head snapped to me at my small bark, baring its teeth it let out a loud hiss and took a step forward.
Stupid cat. I dug my chest lower in the snow to appear small and at that the lion forgot all about its previous prey, as it bounced off into the forest blissfully unaware that two predators had been hunting it only moments ago.
I let out a small whimper to entice my prey to come closer, when it was about a foot away I jumped to my feet scaring the cat. It ran as fast as its legs could take it, but it was not fast enough. The second my teeth dug into its neck it was dead, I enjoyed my meal for a while before I set back on track to the castle.
I ran for a few more hours before I found a tree with large enough branches to sleep on, I shifted back and realized I had been covered in the blood of my last meal. Ripping an extra shirt I had stored in my bag I set it in the snow until it was wet, using it I scrubbing the blood from my skin and what I could get from my hair. After I dressed I climbed into the tree on a tall branch and tied my legs to it so I would not fall while I slept, as I drifted into my usual dream it quickly changed.
