Scott heads directly to Wendy. He thanks her for the invitation and congratulates her on her accomplishments.
He tells her, “You’ve got a terrific dad, he’s fantastic.” Actually, Scott’s admiration for Lewis Beanblossom knows no bounds.
Scott keeps an eye on Lew and John. Lew checks back occasionally. Scott tells Wendy he has to leave (not really true) and extends a hand to her. She hugs him instead. He can feel the attraction between them; he wishes they were alone. Scott leaves before Lew returns with John.
Lew brings John back and tells Wendy, “I was giving John a little history of the Air Force and some heroes.”
John says, “It is pretty sad they give out metals for killing people.”
“They were the bad guys, you know.” Lew is pissed.
The reception ends and Wendy leaves with John.
