In a world where voice dictates power, Lyra is a silent outcast at the prestigious Lunar Crest Academy. Unable to speak, she is the ultimate target for bullying—until a mandatory combat class forces her to fight back, catching the eye of the academy's most ruthless, powerful Alpha instructor, Aidan Vance. When a sudden, brutal rogue attack threatens the academy, Lyra’s blood awakens a legendary, long-lost healing magic, revealing a bond neither expected: she is the Alpha's destined mate. But in a pack built on strength, can a silent wolf claim her throne, or will the dark secrets of her past destroy them both?

Chapter 1: The Weight of Dust
The cafeteria of Lunar Crest Academy smelled of woodsmoke, roasted meat, and the suffocating scent of wolves who knew exactly where they belonged in the food chain. Lyra did not belong on the chain at all. She was the dust beneath it. She kept her eyes fixed on the cracked wooden table, her fingers tracing the deeply carved grooves in the oak. Around her, the chatter of high-ranking juveniles echoed through the vaulted rafters. They laughed, they flexed their shifting muscles, and they threw their status around like cheap gold. Lyra merely existed in the spaces they left behind. Born mute and lacking the fierce, predatory aura of her peers, she was the academy’s favorite ghost. A punching bag with a heartbeat. "Look at it. Still breathing our air," a sharp, mocking voice sneered from above. Lyra didn’t need to look up to know it was Gideon. The Beta’s son was massive, his presence a heavy, oppressive weight of raw entitlement. He slammed his tray down right next to her, purposefully spilling lukewarm broth onto her fraying jacket. Lyra didn’t flinch. She simply closed her eyes, letting the silence wrap around her like a protective shield. She had learned long ago that reacting only fed the beasts. "I’m talking to you, mutt," Gideon hissed, leaning in so close she could smell the sour copper of his aggressive aura. "Or did you lose your hearing along with your voice? You don’t belong here. A wolf who can’t speak, who can't even manifest a basic pack spark? You're a stain on Lunar Crest." Behind him, his sycophants chuckled, drawing the attention of the surrounding tables. Lyra kept her posture rigid, her heart hammering a frantic rhythm against her ribs, though her face remained a mask of pure stone. She picked up a napkin, slowly wiping the broth from her sleeve. Her refusal to cower infuriated him. Gideon grabbed her shoulder, his claws biting through the fabric of her shirt, pinning her to the bench. Let go, she screamed in the tight, locked confines of her mind. Just let go. But no sound came out. It never did. The silence inside her was an ocean, vast and drowning. Suddenly, the suffocating atmosphere of the cafeteria shifted. The ambient noise died instantly, replaced by a heavy, primal pressure that made every wolf in the room drop their heads in instinctual submission. The air grew thick, charged with an electric, terrifying authority. Alpha Aidan had entered the room. Lyra felt the hair on her arms stand up. Aidan wasn’t just the academy’s guest supervisor; he was the Alpha of the Midnight Eclipse Pack—a living legend, ruthless, hyper-perceptive, and cold as winter iron. As his heavy combat boots clicked against the stone floor, Gideon immediately released Lyra, stepping back and bowing his head. Lyra looked up, just for a second. Aidan’s gaze swept across the room, dark and unreadable, before pausing. For one agonizing heartbeat, his piercing dark eyes locked onto hers. The intensity of it made her breath catch. He didn’t look away. He scanned her—the stains on her jacket, the bruises on her wrist, the defiance hidden deep in her eyes. Then, without a word, he moved on toward the faculty dais. Lyra exhaled, her hands trembling under the table. The academy was a hellhole, but today, the devil himself had arrived to watch.
