Chapter 5“We’re going to need to let some of this smoke out eventually,” I told him, still worried. I could hear the crack of the rifle overhead. “I don’t know how.” He looked up, there was a fireplace on one wall. “Look.” He pointed and we carefully transported the fire to the fireplace. The squeaking and escaping of little animals let us know that there was some clear space in the flue. That made me happy. I helped, but it wasn’t the neatest of jobs. Still, I could hear the occasional firing in the distance.
