Chapter 7It was dark when we finally climbed out of the basement. I breathed in deeply. The cool mountain air felt good on my lungs. I looked around and noticed Blake was tense, sniffing, still in his lion form. He was watching; his eyes locked in the darkness as they swiveled. He moved around me, looking for something, watching for some attack. I was waiting for it too, but I didn’t have the vision he had. I looked around and noticed we had made our way to the other side of town. We had gotten away. I wanted to jump for joy, but it was time to be silent.
