19. Her Change of Heart

HER CHANGE OF HEART

She used to hate waking up early

As staying up late makes her feel sleepy

But no not today as her eyes open

She praises Allah, makes wudu and starts praying.

She used to feel gloomy about life

Unmindful of friends that pass her by

But now, she smiles a lot to people she meets

Because it is both a sadaqa and sunnah of the Prophet (s.a.w).

In the past, listening to music was what kept her going

Like Goo goo Dolls' Iris and Lifehouse' Everything

But it's been months now that she got rid of the habit

She now can't get enough of Islamic Lectures, Ayats and Ahadith.

If yesterday, she got a shopping list to fulfill

Today she intends to secretly help the poor

If yesterday, she wanted a new phone or a new dress

Today she only wants to purify her heart's desires.

She's easily angry at the littlest of things

Hot tempered and full of complaints

But now she keeps on thanking Allah for her blessings

With positive thinking, patience and understanding.

Sometime in her past she takes the hijab lightly

Wearing tight clothes and not covering herself properly

But this day she decides to heed Allah's command

Knowing that hijab is a protection for a woman.

Her dreams once upon a time were all for the Dunya

She was still clueless then of the beauty of Jannah

But tonight she will evaluate her eeman before going to sleep

As her new found vision is to pass the Day of Judgment.

She used to neglect her prayers and never fasts

Enjoyment with friends was what she focused at

But starting today she will pray five times a day

And fasts well on the month of Ramadhan.

Harry Potter and all other fiction love novels

Were the books that she got herself hooked

But now she always recites the Holy Qur'an

And feels a new sense of serenity, lost and found.

If in the past, her tongue used to curse and backbite

Now she avoids hearing gossips and engaging in any vice

Instead you'll find her constantly supplicating

Doing dhikr, spending time wisely like du'a memorizing.

Yesterday, she was in love with an unworthy person

Today she's completely devoted in becoming a better person

A person who after Allah has changed and guided

Will do what she must to be saved from HIS punishment.

She is different now more than ever

What have caused that you may have wondered

Allah's Mercy on her is the answer to that

But of course, it all begins with a self-start.

Her change of heart makes her the happiest woman alive

Her change of heart gives her the real purpose of her life

Her change of heart led her to Islam

The correct way of life for all mankind.
