The End That Never Ends

Emby goes to the cemetery and surprisingly sees Skylar standing at her parents grave. The reality of time is starting to fade and the girls have broken between timelines. The reality they are in is starting to wither. As the girls are in the cemetery the gravestones began to float in midair, glowing faintly like lanterns. The moon hung motionless above, cracked down the center like an eye that had seen too much. Dark shadows begin to appear swelling everything into an even darker abyss. The cult stood nearby frozen in place, their bodies coruscating like static. The altar stood before them, and beneath it was the pulsing black fissure where the world had once ended. Emby turned to Skylar. “If this loop is feeding the beast, maybe if we die together it’ll stop it from destroying everything.” Skylar looked terrified but nodded. “Then we end it our way.” The two clasped hands. The fissure widened, whispering, beckoning. They stepped toward it, unflinching. The shadows reached up and instead of consuming them, they merged. Light erupted from the ground, and for one eternal second, the chanting stopped. The town’s lights flickered out. And a great whoosh filled throughout the entire town. Then silence.
