Chapter 6: Happy

the next day

The sun is still high in the sky shining at its brightest in this beautiful afternoon, the hot weather making everyone feel the summer. Sun rays passing through the bedroom window making Maya open her eyes. Falling asleep late last night makes her want to stay in bed longer but she decides not to. She stretches and sits on the bed, looking out the window she sees how beautiful the day is and that makes her smile. Nothing better than a beautiful sunny day. Rubbing her eyes she gets up to go to the bathroom to fresh up. Turning on the light she looks at her reflection on the mirror in the room’s bathroom and she smiles remembering how yesterday night went by.

After the whole meeting, Aiden and Maya decided to go to his house to talk to get to know each other better. They stood in front of a big house smaller than the packhouse but bigger than any of the other houses. Not far from the packhouse make it convenient for Aiden, a perfect distance for privacy. 

The nearer they get the more nervous Aiden becomes he doesn’t know what to do scared of not being liked by his mate. He keeps wondering if she likes him or if she doesn’t want to be with him. What does she think of him so far? He also doesn’t know how to take this like he wasn’t expecting a human mate. It wasn't something bad but it has never been seen. He will have to discuss this with the council or an older wolf that surely will know more about this than him. But for now, he just wants to enjoy this as most as he can. “Is this your house?” She asks gripping his arm since she was about to trip, she can't see well because of the darkness of the night even if the moon is shining it doesn’t help her much. He grips her so she wouldn’t fall. “Yeah, it is. Do you like it?” He gets nervous waiting for her reply not sure if she will like his house or not. From what he knows she lives in the city and maybe doesn’t like this type of environment. “Are you kidding me! It’s perfect! I always preferred this over the city, I wish I could live here.” She wishes. Does that mean she won’t stay with me? That thought gets to Aiden’s head. He shouldn't assume anything right?

Getting his keys out of his pocket Aiden opens the door and lets Maya in first. She lets out a small thanks, she’s nervous not knowing what he thinks of all of this. The girls have told her how great is to meet their mate but it’s maybe not the case for everyone. Some could be happy of meeting their mates and others not. Is Aiden happy about this?

What confuses her the most is that she has been told that the alpha has never had a human as a mate. She is pretty sure that she heard one of the girls telling her that. Is Aiden disappointed that his mate is a human? Or maybe the girls were wrong and some alphas do have human as mates. But they couldn’t be all wrong, right?

They both sit down on the sofa in Aiden’s big living room. Maya takes a pillow laying on the sofa to cover her legs with this outfit she suddenly feels exposed. “Aiden I want you to be honest with me the girls have told me a lot about wolves and mates and all of that. I know how important mates are for each other and I also know that some wolves don’t want anything to do with their mates and if that’s the case with you I want you to let me know, please. I know some don’t want anything to do with their mates because they got human has mates or maybe for other reasons. I don’t want you to feel obligated to accept this and to be with me. I just want you to be totally honest.” She let out a sigh feeling nervous about the situation she just hopes for the best. She can already feel the connection between Aiden and her. Her heart beats faster waiting for the worse. 

“Maya listens to me, I’ve been waiting for my mate for so long. You have no idea. The only missing thing in my life was my mate. What I’m trying to say is that I was just waiting for you to actually feel complete. Mates are to complete the other. You are the other half I’ve been waiting for. I will finally feel complete and be happy with you by my side. I lost my parents when I was 18 and I don’t have any siblings and even if I have the pack I wasn’t complete. Something was missing and I finally found it. I just found the missing piece and that is you, my love. Do you really think I will let you go? Do you really think I will let the person I’ve been waiting for go? No, I won’t, sorry. You are stuck with me forever. I hope you know that I want you in my life. I want you with me forever baby.” He takes her face in his hands still not believing she was right in front of him. He was scared this was all just a dream. Maya blushes like crazy at his words. She has this weird but at the same time good feeling in her stomach. She feels like they are butterflies in her tummy. Aiden surely knows how to make a girl feel special. She feels like the luckiest girl on earth.

“Aiden I just want you to know that this is all new to me even if I know about you guys I’m still new to this. But even if it’s new I want to try this with you I want that special thing. I want to take this further I want this connection that we have. It’s crazy like I just meet you and I already feel like I have known you for so long. I want to be with you I want to build a relationship with you and that scares me because I’ve never done this. I’m scared of not doing the right thing. What if I fail you or what if what I do is not good or good enough?” Maya lets Aiden know how she feels and her concerns. She is trusting him. 

She actually amazed at how connected she feels with him. Is this the mate bound I’ve heard of? “Hey don’t worry I’m as scared as you are because I’m new to this as well. I’ve seen many wolves meet their mate yet I didn’t actually know what the feeling was and now I do. I can tell you is amazing but that doesn’t mean I’m not scared as well. But I want us to do this together I want you to tell me what’s on your mind so we can do this together alright?” Maya nods feeling happy that he wants this and that he wants the same as her.

“Let’s ask each other questions to get to know each other more, okay?” Aiden looks at her with so much adoration. “Okay,” Maya says smiling at him. 

“When is your birthday?”

“July 22nd, yours?”

“June 13th."

"How old are you?"

"I'm 26 and you?"

"I'm 18." Maya answers with red cheeks suddenly feeling shy.

"I'm six years older than you. Does it bother you?"

"No, it does. For me, the age of a person is just a number. Does it bother you that I'm way younger than you?"

"No, not at all. I can already tell that you are mature for your age which is something that I really like to be honest."

"Thank you. Catherine has told me the same." 

"Okay, let's continue. What’s your favourite hobby?” 

“I have many but if I should only choose one that will be reading.” That puts a smile on Maya’s face. “Tell me more about it.” 

“Well, I love how reading it makes me forget about everything. It’s like I’m in another world. I love it when a book is so good that I feel like I’m in the book, you know? It’s magical and what's better is that they are many types of books you can choose. You can choose the type of book that you want. I also love it when you get lost because it's too good and you don't want to stop reading. There's also the connection that you create with the characters on the book…” Maya looks up and sees Aiden looking at her with a big smile on his face. She looks away feeling embarrassed because she was talking too much and giving too many details. Aiden asked a simple question and there she goes talking about it without end. “Sorry” Her cheeks are so red she could be mistaken as a tomato, literally. 

“Hey, it’s okay. Don’t worry. I want to know everything, I don’t want you to leave details out.” He gives her a comforting smile which makes her feel less embarrassed. “I think it's more than enough with everything I said. What’s your favourite hobby?” 

“I don’t want you to feel embarrassed talking about something you love so much, okay? And for my hobby, I love to go for runs. For us wolves, it’s a thing we do a lot. I love to go for runs when I want to relieve stress or to not think about my problems.” Maya takes his hands on hers and gives it a little squeeze to let him know that she there. “I’m sure being alpha of a pack it’s not easy but I want you to know that you have me now. Obviously it will be difficult at the beginning because I've never done this but I'm sure with time I could help you out and as your mate, it’s my duty to help you with everything I can. You have to know that I’m in with this. I want us to be mates and to have each other in the good moments and in the bad ones.” 

Maya gets startled when Aiden picks her up to put her on his laps and gives her a bone-crushing hug. His head on the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent that drives him crazy. She then pulls out her arms to take him on her arms. She tightens her grip not wanting to let go. She feels so safe and comfortable in his arms. His body heat making the hug even more comforting. “Well, I think it is better if I take you to Catherine’s house so you can sleep. Tomorrow we will discuss further, okay?” Just when Aiden finishes his sentence Maya lets out a yawn making Aiden chuckle at her cuteness. “I think that’s a good idea. I’m feeling super sleepy but I still want to talk to you.” “We will tomorrow I promise.” That makes Maya smile. “Let’s go.”

The door of the bathroom opens up making her jump. “Catherine! You scared me!” “Sorry, it wasn’t my intention. You were too lost in your thought to even notice that I entered the bedroom. What were you thinking about?” “I was thinking about last night.” A big smile on her face, she feels like she couldn’t be happier. “Ah, I see. I still can’t believe, it was a surprise for all of us. Do you want to talk about it?” “Let’s talk about it later. I’m starving.” “That’s what I came to tell you that breakfast well lunch since it’s 1 pm already.” “Really? It does feel like it.” “Yes, we all slept late so it’s normal to wake up at this time. You will get used to it soon. It was actually cool to loosen up a little. You coming?” “Yes let's go.” 

Catherine gets out so I can finish preparing for the day. After I finish I walk in front of a mirror making me lookup. I feel great. I’ve never been this…
