Time passed and neither Emily nor Nico knew of each other's changes. However they were hyper aware of the other's alter egos. You see Emily became a ruthless gang leader and went by her new name Blade which sent chills through the town. The kids grew up fearing her instead of the Boogie Man. Nico too had chosen a new name but only when the town needed him most. He became known as Nighthawk. The town's very own superhero. He was trained just like Blade had been except he was trained by a man who fought for justice. Nighthawk started as Batman's sidekick but once he learnt the strings, he returned home and started going against Blade's gang. The two were enemies and yet neither one of them knew each other's true identities.
***Blade's Point of View***
Halloween is around the corner and one of the local billionaires is hosting a masquerade ball. I know full well that this is a trap to capture me but I like a good party and no one knows how I look so I'll use it to sniff out information on that pest of a superhero. Who does he think he is? If he truly was smart he'd know my men would die rather than give him any information. So why capture them and threaten them with jail time? Especially if my men know I have spies in the police force, amazing what you can get right with some bills.
"Blade have you thought this through there will be a lot of enemies out there?" my mom asked concern colouring her tone. "I know but no one knows how I look and besides I'll be wearing a mask. Also I'll have my usual scouts in place and I've already given my men the blueprints of the house so if anything goes wrong I'll be protected and I still have the training dad gave me. And I'll be wearing the outfit you choose." My mom's face lit up like a child's on Christmas day when I said she could choose the outfit. All we had to do now was prepare for my first night out of hiding...
***Nico's Point of View***
The trap was set. I heard from whispers on the street that Blade the leader of the Iron Rose gang was fond of parties and that he wouldn't miss one. The only problem was that no one actually knew how he looked all they knew was that he was ruthless. If any of his men snitched they ended up dead the next day with stitches sown through their mouths and an iron rose on their chests. I've captured some of his men but as soon as they are taken into custody by the police and put into a cell, they're as good as gone the next morning. All I can do for now is make sure the trap is bulletproof because I don't want this villain on the streets anymore.
The gang has been targeting ex-conmen and ex-agents from every bureau you can imagine, from MI6 to CIA to FBI as if they have a vendetta against them all. All the houses were set alight and every victim would have an iron rose on their chest. The gang making sure everyone knew that it was them who targeted the house...

As the sunset my pulse started rushing not with fear but rather with excitement. Tonight was the night. My mom chose a stunning ballroom gown. My hair had been the inspiration it was black with red tips. Just like me this dress had a secret I could remove the skirt to reveal a casual short romper. So that if I needed to make a hasty get away I could. Thus my shoes had to been flat and my mom knowing that I admired gladiator sandals bought me a knee high black pair. Which I must say I absolutely adore them.
With my outfit on and my make-up and hair done I felt the same as I had on my Matric Farewell. Excited but nervous. As I put my mask on I hide my emotions for those would get me killed. I climbed into the limousine obviously having one of my men as the chauffer and my second in command, Jakk was going as bodyguard and my plus one.
When we arrived the door was opened and we were led up to the entrance. As soon as we reached the door I held my breath the view of ballroom was enchanting. Jakk watched me curiously and I smiled, "The place is lovely don't you think honey?" He smiled at me and led me down to the dancefloor. "It's time for phase one of the plan. Talk to as many people as you can around the room and find out what they know about that superhero." Jakk gives a quick nod and I slip the ear piece into his ear while he slips the other one into my ear. We did it discreetly looking like a couple who couldn't keep their hands off of each other and then as quickly as we did that we parted. As I walked to my target group a hand grabbed my wrist gently. "Care to dance?" The voice sounded familiar and when I saw the face I knew.
Nico was looking at me with his icy eyes and I fought the urge to hug him. "I would love to but unfortunately I can't. I'm searching for my plus one have you seen him?" I ask distorting my voice hoping he wouldn't recognise me. One thing I forgot about Nico was that he was persistent. He dragged me to the floor and put his arm around my waist and his hand into mine. I slipped my arm around his neck and we slowly moved to the music. "The dance floor is an excellent place to talk don't you think? No one can hear what the couple next to them is whispering." "So you want to dig for information?" "You're a wise woman which begs the question what are you doing here with a man like him?" "What do you mean?" "Oh, please drop the charade. I know you're here with your boyfriend and I know he calls himself Blade." With the sudden information I wanted to laugh but when my mind clicked on a small puzzle piece I was overcome by shock. "You're him, aren't you? You're the one that everyone calls Nighthawk." "I don't know what you mean." With that said the music ended and we both left the floor. Nico was my nemesis. "Jakk it's time to go." With that we both rushed to the exit but it was locked. I turned to Jakk, "Escape plan two." With that we ran to the bathroom and opened the window. I took my mask and skirt off and tossed them out then Jakk jumped and I followed.
We ran towards where the limousine was standing but we both froze when we realized someone had followed us. "Put your mask on." I said quietly. "Emily?!" I heard the shock and anger in his voice and all I wanted to do was bolt but that wasn't who I was anymore. I stood my ground. "It was a nice seeing you again Nico but I really have to get going." With that I walked off and Jakk followed.
Too late did we realise we were not alone.
"EMILY!"
A gunshot pierced the silent night...
