Chapter 03: THE INVITATION

“Hah! That was crazy your highness! - one of the knights in training said as he try to stabilize his breathing. Sino nga ba ang hindi mapapagod sa pakikipag-spar saakin? Well, I only know one person so far and that’s my brother.

For the past seven years, I trained how to use sword and bow for my own protection and just in case I really need such ability. And the one who is able to match my agility and strength has always been my brother. “You stopped growing” - he stated which made me frown and also made me smile, a fake one.

“Still I am quite tall for a woman so don’t insult me” - saad ko at kitang kita ko kung paano umangat ang kanyang labi and it formed a smile

“Oo nalang Rae.” - he said which made me roll my eyes. This brother is testing my patience, if only I can summon publicly a spirit I l made contact with recently to attack him then he will stop playing tricks with me. Tsk mamaya ko nalang nga gagawin pag nasa loob na kami ng palasyo. “By the way Rae, may sinabi na ba sayo si dad?” - seryoso niyang tanong. Nawala ang maliwanag niyang mukha at napalitan ito ng seryoso at walang emosyong mukha.

Bihira ko lang makita ang ganitong ekspresyon. And when he makes that expression I know that it is something serious or there is a problem that we two need to be part of.

Today is the 15th of the month of Summer and there is no particular thing that happened in this day in the original novel. Now to think of it, the original Eclipse Raeliana would have lived a simple life showered by the love and protection of her family. She did not even engaged in sword or bow training.

Maybe the plot of the novel itself changed because of me. Damn! I am so stupid to have overlooked that fact!

“Rae what’s wrong? Bakit bigla kang namutla?” - biglang tanong ni Nox at kitang kita ko ang pag-aalala sa kanyang mukha.

“I’m fine Nox, maybe it’s just because of the heat” - nakangiti kong saad dahil ayokong mag-alala pa siya sa kalagayan ko. Masyado pa naman siyang overacting lalo na pag involve ako.

“Why did you say earlier?” - he asked and suddenly my whole body cooled down which made me heave a deep sigh

“Seriously Nox? Using Ice magic to make me feel cool?” - hindi makapaniwala kong saad. This is actually not the first time that he done such thing but I just can’t help but to be amazed since he never done those things to the original character. He does care for her but the original Raeliana did not enjoy being outside too much because of the threats surrounding her.

In other words, mahina ang loob niya and she is quite the scaredy cat. Because of this she choose to isolate herself lessen the burden of her family especially her brother. And also because the original Raelina has no magic or physical capability, Nox is forced to study at the Empire’s Magic Academy to learn more and to gain power to protect his sister and as time passes by their relationship became awkward.

“What? Wala naman akong ibang pag-gagamitan ng magic ko. Not to mention my precious little sister is feeling hot” - nakangisi niyang saad at napailing nalang ako

“Let’s just go back” - I said and I started walking to the path going back to the palace. While we are on our way back home, I remembered something he said a while ago. “So Nox, what is it that father did not tell me? Why do you look so annoyed because of it?”

I heard him heave a deep sigh with what I just asked.

“It’s an invitation” - he answered which made me frown. Just an invitation and he’s getting annoyed?

That should happen next year! Specifically two months before my coming-of-age ceremony. Bakit biglang nagbago ang takbo ng kwento? Okay I know that I am the first reason but I always mind my actions not to totally change the plot. I did not do anything to make the events appear in a different time.

Not to mention that with this I am going to meet the female and male lead sooner than I freakin’ thought!

“Are you okay Rae? You can stay here if you don’t want to. I’ll also ask mom and dad inform the Emperor that I am the only one going” - Nox said and I know that he is quite worried again.

“Don’t worry Nox. I am fine, I am just shocked that the Emperor is abolishing the royal decree. It does not commonly happens” - saad ko at kitang kita ko kung paano niya pinadaan ang kanyang kamay sa kanyang buhok like he was frustrated about something.

“The Castello’s are really quite troublesome. I just hope that they will not do something silly or else I destroy them” - he said using telepathy. At dahil sa sinabi niya ay agad akong napanga-nga.

I know that he is strong. Halos pantay sila ng lakas ng Castello but the Empire has the advantage as well.

Anyways I have to formulate a plan later. I cannot attend that gathering without a plan on my sleeves.

I have to avoid too much interaction with the male and female lead at all cost!
