Chapter 5

The torture.

Thane left the room after a brief conversation with his mother. Thane was the son of Incubus and Lydia (succubus). He possessed pure demonic powers as both his parents were demons. Although he was strong, Damon was stronger and was to be made the next Lord of Laputa. Lydia did not want that, she tried to brew hatred between the two brothers and change Incubus' mind about who to choose as his successor.

Lydia was furious, She went to look for Aurora "Aurora!!! Come out here you feeble and foolish creature!!" she roared as soon as saw her.

Aurora shivered with fear

Lydia was not a very kind Demoness. She would severely punish anyone who went against her wishes or anyone who didn't carry out their jobs properly. She knew because she was Lydia's personal maiden and had seen the wrath of Lydia severally.

"Yes, my queen, I'm here" Aurora answered shakingly

Lydia walked towards the shivering Aurora.

"He saw you, you i***t. I told you to make sure you remain hidden while you monitor him, you couldn't even give me any relevant feedback you useless lowlife" Lydia was burning with rage as She slapped Aurora hard on the cheek and it threw her into a daze.

"My apologies my queen, I had no idea he had seen me. I tried my best to stay hidden. I didn't see him with anyone my queen, Please show mercy" Aurora was still trying to recover from the daze when another one was released on her face.

"How dare you call me a liar!! Now follow me!"

Aurora cried pitifully, she had been trying to escape that sentence for a while now.

Lydia took her to a private dungeon in her room. That was where she sucked the souls of young maidens in the palace who dared go against her wish. No one except the maidens of the palace knew of that place.

She would torture them and starve them and drain their life essence everyday until they dried out. The pain was excruciating. Sometimes the maidens were innocent but she used their essence to replenish herself since she was not immortal.

That was the last anyone ever saw of Aurora. Maidens in the palace knew what had happened to her but no one dared say anything to Lord Incubus, Damon, or Thane.

Damon sat in his room thinking about Lydia who hated anything he loved and anything she found out that brought him happiness was her enemy. His women, his friends, everything, she had poisoned his first mother in cold blood simply because he grew to love her and cherish her more than Lydia.

She was also very jealous of the Goddess's magnificent array and that continued to fuel her hatred until she got rid of her and he wondered why Incubus who claimed to love Venus so much turned deaf ears to all his accusations against Lydia.

Damon suddenly felt fear. If Lydia found out about Angelica, she would try to kill her too. What if he wouldn't be there to protect her? He thought hard in his room and could barely relax.

*********In the cottage*********

Angelica still felt betrayed by her father. Esteban returned and noticed her sour mood. He had never seen her so down, she was always so happy and cheerful even when there was no just reason to be happy. He wondered what had happened to his beloved daughter.

"Mi Reina? What is the problem? Why do you look so depressed?" Estevan asked worried

Angelica couldn't bring herself to tell her father she went beyond the forest boundaries, She knew it would break his heart but she was in pain.

" Angelica? Talk to me. What bothers my princess so much that she couldn't welcome her papa as she usually does" he asked persuasively

"Papa, I have stomach ache, I tried making elixirs but nothing seems to work" she lied. Esteban became alarmed. Angelica made potions for every single one of his ailments and she had never fallen sick. He rushed out of the cottage and found the best herbs he knew could help.

Angelica watched him anxiously prepare the potion.

She realised what Damon had told her was true.

Her father's greatest fear was losing her.

"Here you go, drink up and maybe go to rest. You should feel better after a nice long rest" he said reassuring her and even himself.

Angelica drank the potion and went upstairs but she couldn't sleep.

She thought of how her father new really told her who her mother was

What else could he be hiding from me?... Am I really his daughter?.. do I have siblings?"

Angelica thought so much and slept off.

The next day was for fishing. She woke up in a happy mood and decided to go to the river. The door was locked.

"What's this? Papa never locks the door. What's going on". She knocked and knocked but the door never opened.

Esteban finally came back after so many hours of fishing. He peeked into the small cottage sitting room window and saw Angelica fast asleep. He felt guilty for what he was doing but it was the right thing to do he thought.

He carefully opened the door so as not to wake Angelica. His effort was vain as she woke up almost immediately she heard the door swing open. .

"Papa," she said with swollen eyes.

"Why did you lock me up here?" she asked using her hands to clean her eyes

"I'm sorry mi Reina but I had to do it." he defensively

"Why!!!???" Angelica was tensing up as Her brown eyes looked sharp and cruel.

"It is the best thing for you. I noticed you now go to close to the forest boundaries where I have warned you severally not to go right from your childhood. Yesterday you left the cottage. I came back and searched for you throughout the forest but couldn't find you when I came back later at night you said you had a stomach ache.

You have never fallen sick all this time you haven't been snooping around the forest boundaries. I don't mean any harm mi Reina" he walked over and placed his hands on her shoulder.

Angelica pushed his hands. "Then tell me what's beyond the forest boundaries??? What would happen if I go there? I'm sure you have been there before.

“What seems to be so scary that you won't let me see for myself??” She asked I'm twenty now Papa, I'm not a child anymore. You can't continue to keep me caged here. I must leave someday" Angelica added as she turned around and walked away.

Esteban watched her walk into her room and slam the door. He felt his heart break. This was not the plan.
