The Sorta "Friend" Date

Lucas didn't text me yet to make plans yet, so I decided to text Jess to let her know about Zack

Hey, so after I dropped you off Zack was waiting at my house

Oh really, that's a good sign yes?

Yeah, he apologized for acting like a dink, our friendship is more important but he also mentioned he didn't want to be Lucas's friend, but would make more the effort to be nice.

That's good then, I told you Sam, he cares more about you then anything else :)

I sat on my bed smiling he really does I thought to myself. My phone buzzed, it was from Lucas.

Hey, sorry I was going to text you like an hour ago, Nathan needed my help moving wood into the basement to get ready for winter, so came home and showered first before texting.

It's okay, I'm ready whenever you are

Okay, great I'm just getting dressed, I'll be at your place in less then 20 minutes.

Sounds good.

Shit, I forgot to text back Jess.

Sorry, Lucas texted me he's on his way in about 20 minutes. Yeah, I guess Zack and I are meant to be friends. Anyway, have fun tonight. I'll text later to let you know how Lucas and I made out.

I went upstairs to wait for Lucas, mom and dad were sitting on the back deck, having a drink. "Lucas is on his way over soon, I won't be too late" I said to them from the inside of the sliding door. "Okay dear, have fun" mom replies giving me a smile.

Lucas drove into my driveway a few minutes later, that was a fast 20 minutes, I walked down the steps towards his truck, he got out to walk around and open the door for me I just gave my head a shake and got in the truck "You look really nice" he says to me before closing the door making me blush a little bit. He walked around the truck to get in the drivers seat "So, I figured we would go grab something to eat first, don't worry nothing too fancy, don't want it to feel like an actual date" he says giving me a quick smile. "Yeah sure, that's fine" I reply returning the smile.

He took me to a nice pizza place, that served really good pizza, and pasta. We got seated in a booth in a corner there was a few people in the restaurant but we were alone. "Is this okay?" he asked. "Yes, this is great" I reply smiling. I preferred to be away from other people honestly. "Order anything you like, it's on me, and that's final before you say no" he says giving me a stern look "Okay" I reply laughing. I should have known he would pay. The waiter gave us a few minutes before coming to take our order "I will have the chicken Alfredo with water please" I ordered. "And for you?" the waiter looks at Lucas "I'll have the same" he replies."Okay, two chicken alfredos with water coming up" she smiles takes the menus and walks away. She comes back with water, "Won't be long for the food" she advises before walking away again."I didn't know you liked pasta?" I asked "I actually love pasta" he replies taking a drink of water, "Same" I smiled."So, how are things with you and Zack?" he asked but he had a look on his face like he didn't really care after what happened last night. "Well, he showed up at my place earlier today when I dropped Jess off, he apologized, he agreed to be nicer, I guess he seen how much of an ass he was being" "I see, well I'm happy he apologized to you Sam, but he made it pretty clear he wants nothing to do with me, so I'm not going to bother, I'll just hangout with you alone." he said as he's playing with his straw in his glass.I let out a small sigh "Don't let it get to you, I'm sure maybe down the road when he realizes I'm not what he thinks I'am we can attempt to get along but right now I'll just continue to get to know you better" he adds now looking at me smiling. A part of me wanted to start crying because I didn't want to be caught in the middle like this, I enjoyed hanging out with both of them and didn't want to lose either of them. Our food came, and we started eating, it was delicious.Lucas told me about a cabin his parents had in the woods, and we made plans to go this winter "I think you'd really enjoy it"he says finishing up the last bite of his food. "I think so too, I enjoy the woods" I reply I still had so much food on my plate,but was already feeling full. "Don't force yourself to eat anymore Sam" he advises noticing how full I was. The waiter comes back to give us our bill after she asks if we wanted anything else which we both said "no". Lucas goes to pay while I go to the washroom. I meet Lucas in the lobby " Ready to get going?" he asks placing a hand on my upper back "Yes" I reply giving a small smile, a part of me wanted to shrug his arm off me, but I left it as we walked back to his truck.

We pull into a retro looking place, that I've never been to before "I thought about taking you to a movie, but thought that might be a little too much so I thought we could go to a roller blade disco instead" he said looking at me to see my reaction I smiled in amazement "This is great, I've never been here before" "Great" he replies letting out a long sigh,"I was nervous you wouldn't like this part, I wanted to do something fun" I placed my hand on his shoulder, as soon as I touched him, I could see his face getting a little red, which made me smile more "Let's go have some fun" I said now getting out of the truck. We walked into the building they were playing actual disco music, we got our roller blades I looked around they had glowing signs everywhere, colourful lights, and a huge disco ball hanging over the floor. There was quite a few people in here, some older, our age, and younger but everyone was having a blast. Lucas grabbed my hand, and pulled me onto the floor I haven't had roller blades since I was a kid, so this should be interesting. Lucas on the other hand was pretty good on his feet and was leading me around."It's okay, I got you" he says grabbing my other hand, and he starts swinging me around in circles, making me a little dizzy, but can't help but to start giggling.  He stops swinging me and he starts actually dancing, pointing his finger up and down and swinging his hips, at this point I'm laughing. Zack would never do anything like this, he would be the one sitting in the corner watching. I guess that's the difference between the two, Lucas is more open and down to do more adventurous things, Zack is more quiet and staying in his comfort zone, which is fine, but trying new things is what makes life more fun. 

We stayed at the disco for what seemed like hours, my feet were sore from dancing. We returned the roller blades, put or regular shoes on "That feels better" I said walking out of the building "Sorry, didn't think your feet would get sore" he says feeling bad. "It's okay, I'll soak my feet when I get home, I'll be alright" I reply giving him a smile, so he doesn't feel so bad. We get into the truck it was 9:30pm " Well, I didn't have anything else planned, we can grab a coffee and drive around for a bit, or if you prefer I can bring you home?" he asks "It's still early, I don't feel like going home just yet" I reply he smiles at my response "Great". We stopped at a coffee shop to grab coffee. "Any preference for tunes?" he asks. "Nah, I'd like pretty much everything besides for heavy metal crap" I reply already looking through his mp3 player he has plugged in to the aux cord. I went with Linkin park "You like that band?" he asks "Yeah, one of my favourites, along with Nickelback, 3 days grace, I like other music too depends what I'm feeling" I said still scrolling the mp3 player. He started asking me a lot questions "What's your favourite colour, season, food, animal,movie, game" "Bright orange, fall, pasta, dogs, raising helen, donkey kong" I replied. "Bright orange, I would have never thought" he asks c*****g an eye brow "Just cause I don't wear the colour don't mean it's not my favourite" I reply smirking "Now your turn" I add "Red, spring, pork chops, dogs, the terminator, and resident evil games" he replies."Now we know a bit more about each other" he adds with a smile."Yeah, guess we do" returning the smile.

It was now 10:50pm, Lucas drove into my driveway to drop me off I too off my seat belt "Thanks for the very fun night, we will have to do this again soon" I said catching myself I can't believe I was the one who mentioned hanging out again. Lucas looks at me just as surprised as I was " Yes, for sure. I thought I was going to have to keep asking before you said yes" "No, I think I'm passed that point" I reply looking down smiling. "Well, I suppose I should go in now" I add going for the door handle. I was stopped by a pull on my arm I turned around to face Lucas who was coming in closer to me, he put both arm around me, giving me a tight hug I smiled and hugged him back "Thank you" he said before letting me go "Night" I said jumping out of the truck he waited for me to get in the house before leaving. This was one of the funnest nights I had, I'm glad Lucas is showing me a different side of having fun he's showing me a different part of himself that I'm glad I'm being a part of now if I could only get Zack to see as well, so he can ease off the whole situation. I texted Jess to let her know how my night was

Hi,Austin is just bringing me home, how was it?

He took me out for something to eat, and to a roller blade disco, then we drove around talking. Jess he's actually really sweet. I'm having a blast hanging around him.

I changed my clothes and crawled into bed, I was feeling excited I couldn't wait to hangout with Lucas again
