I Want You

Day with Gram, Evening with Zack

I opened my eyes, feeling confused as to where I was, then remembered I spent the night at Lucas's I sat up in bed, looked around I seen Lucas was sleeping on his couch in his bedroom. I got up to go to the washroom I had to pee so bad. I opened the bathroom door to wake Lucas up to bring me home before my parents Jess scared the crap out of me "Oh, good you're still here, I was hoping you didn't leave me here" she said "No, but I do need to get home" I replied "Okay, I'm going to use the bathroom, I'll meet you downstairs" she said before closing the bathroom door before I walked into Lucas's bedroom Austin came out of the guest bedroom "Hey, I'll bring you girls home" he said still waking up "Okay great, I'll just let Lucas know" I replied. Lucas was dead asleep, so decided to let him sleep, I'll just send him a text later on and went downstairs.

Austin dropped us off at my place so Jess could grab her stuff, but he waited for Jess to bring her back to her house so I could get ready "Thanks Austin I appreciate it" I said getting out of his car "No problem" he replied. Jess packed up her stuff as I was grabbing clothes to go shower "Text me later" she said before walking out of my bedroom "I will" I yelled out to her as I closed the bathroom door.

I showered, put on a medium blue polar t shirt, dark blue jeans white and blue sneakers, and decided to put my hair up in a bun. I heard my parents get home as I was finishing getting ready Perfect I thought to myself. I went upstairs to make a coffee to bring with me for the drive mom was walking into the kitchen as I was sitting at the island waiting for the coffee to finish "Morning hon, good you're ready, Jess is gone home?" she asked grabbing orange juice from the fridge "Morning, yeah she left about 20 minutes ago" I replied getting up to make my coffee.

We were on the road 10 minutes later we had a 2 hour drive "So, how was your weekend?" mom asked making conversation for the long drive "Not bad, Jess and I checked out the new teen club wasn't nothing special,  last night we all went to Lucas's to hangout" I replied leaving out the part of a party and alcohol."That's nice, he seems like a nice boy" she said giving me a sideways look probably checking to see my reaction "Yes mom, he is very nice" I said grabbing my phone out of my pocket I forgot to text him.

Hey, sorry Austin ended up driving Jess and I home didn't want to wake you.

"So, I hope you and Zack are still close with Lucas in the picture" she said scaring me as I was focused on sending my text to Lucas "Yeah, we are good" I reply giving her a smile. "Good, you know how I feel about Zack Sammy, he values your friendship" she said very stern "I know mom"I replied looking down at my phone. My phone went off a few minutes later Lucas had woken up.

Hey, sorry Sam you should have woken me up now I feel bad :(

It's fine, I made it home before my parents I'll see you tomorrow :)

It was 10:30am, we were pulling into my grandmother's driveway, the little blue house still looked the same as I remembered  her little flower garden in the front of the house was still being kept up. She opened the door, "Sammy, oh what a surprise" she said as I walked up to her to give her a hug "Hi Gram" she was the same height as me, her short grey hair was all nicely done in a perm and her brown eyes still as bright and full of life as ever.Tango her orange tabby cat was laying in the sun in the living room, Tango has been a part of the family for the last 6 years.

We sat at the kitchen table talking for a few hours, stayed for lunch we made ham and cheese sandwiches, for dessert Gram had homemade brownies one of my favourites. I took a few brownies for the drive home. Zack had texted me before we were getting ready to leave.

Hey, we are on our way home, I'll text you to let you know when I'm going over

Hey, sounds good. We are getting ready to leave my grandmother's house I'll be home in about 2 hours.

I gave Gram a tight hug, "Come back again soon" she said to me as I let her go "I will" I replied giving her a smile, and we were back on the road again.

Finally we got back home, I placed a brownie on my long dresser with a mirror by my bedroom door for Zack, I know he loves brownies. Zack had texted me a minute later

Hey, I got home about 20 minutes ago, you good?

Hey, yes come over anytime.

I went upstairs to make another coffee, I was already super tired mom was standing in the kitchen "So, did you want to do pizza for supper?" she asked "Don't matter, oh Zack is coming over for a bit" I replied I never had to ask for permission for any of my friends to come over, they were always welcome. "Oh good, I'm sure he will eat pizza" she said smiling. Zack walked into the kitchen as I was making my coffee "You want some?" I asked him "Please" he replied "I'm ordering pizza, anything special you want on it?" mom asked him "No, I'm not picky" he replied.

After we made our coffees we went downstairs to my bedroom "Oh, I brought you one of my grandmother's homemade brownies"I said to him sitting on my bed. "Thank you, how was your visit anyway?" he asked "It was good, it was nice to get away for the day, this weekend was different without you, but how is your brother?" I said taking a drink. "I hear you, it was nice to leave this place, but he's doing well. How was Lucas's last night?" he asked "Wasn't too bad there was a lot of people that I didn't know" I replied. I left out the whole incident with Anna, I was hoping she would keep her space.

Wasn't long and pizza was here, we went upstairs to the kitchen table  to sit down to eat "How was your visit with your brother?" mom asked "It was good, he showed me around the area, met some of his friends, mom took him shopping" he replied "It's going to be weird next year when you both will be graduating" she said looking at us Zack and I just looked at each other, we never really talked about future plans yet I guess we are still enjoying our lives without trying to figure out where we are going to go for college.

We finished eating and helped clean up Zack and I went and sat on the back deck the sun was going down so it was kind of dark out, it was a beautiful night "You know I never really thought about where I was going to go after next year" Zack said looking at me "Same" I replied feeling sad, after next year Zack and I may go our separate ways. I was trying to keep my mind off it. It was getting cold outside, Zack took his sweater off "Here" he said placing the sweater over my shoulders "Thanks" I reply smiling at him he didn't say anything, just returned the smile we sat in silence for awhile. "I suppose I should get home" Zack said standing up "I'll walk you out" I reply a part of me didn't want him to leave, I enjoyed his company. We walked into the house, down the  stairs to the front door, I took his sweater off my shoulders "Here, you can have your sweater back" "Nah, you can keep it for now, night" he said with a smile walking out the door.

I went downstairs and laid on my bed staring at the ceiling, I was feeling so many different emotions, I was scared for next year, scared that Anna would ruin Zack, scared of mixed feelings I was beginning to have for Lucas, I was sad for all the same things, and happy. I eventually passed out.
