The accident

Friday morning I was getting ready for school, i wore a white over the shoulder top, white zippy sweater, light blue jeans with high top light grey boots I curled my ends of my hair. Anna didn't say anything to me or Zack all week so I was glad, and felt at ease. I had plans with the crew tonight at Zacks, and made plans to hangout with Lucas tomorrow. I grabbed my book bag and walked out the door. I picked up Jess as usual and we got to school. Austin was waiting for us, but Zack wasn't here yet which was odd. We got out of car and walked over to Austin "Where's Zack?" I asked. "He won't be here today, his brother was in an accident last night" Austin didn't even finish his sentence I was already running back to my car"Sam, where are you going?" Jess yelled out to me but I was already in my car. I drove to Zack's his jeep was still here, I went into his house, and into his bedroom, he had a bag packed on his bed I scared him as I ran into his bedroom "Sam, what are you doing here?" he asked looking puzzled. "Austin told me what happened, I'm coming with you" I said still catching my breathe. "You don't have to" he said walking over to me to give me a hug "Zack, you're my best friend, I'm here for you know matter what, and I'm coming" I replied hugging him back. He smiled at me "Okay, we better get going, I'll follow you home to pack a bag" he said grabbing his bag off his bed and we went downstairs his mom was in the kitchen she just got off the phone she had been crying "Mom, don't worry Sam is coming with me" he said to her giving her a hug she gave me this loving look, like she was beyond thankful I was there "Thank you honey, you have no idea how happy I'am you came to be here for him" she said to me pulling in for a hug I smiled as I hugged her back, "I'll be in touch" he said as we walked out the front door.

Zack followed me to my place, but waited in his jeep while I went inside, mom was on the phone in the living room I startled her as I ran downstairs "Sammy, is that you?" she yelled out but I didn't answer. I thrown my overnight bag on my bed and threw a pair of jeans, and sweater on my bed while I was grabbing underwear from my dresser when my mom came in "Sam, is everything okay, why are you not in school?" she asked. "Mom, you always said being there for someone in need is very important, well today is one of those days"I said throwing my underwear in my bag she was standing in my doorway staring at me wide eyed "Dear what happened?" she said almost crying at this point I let out a sigh looked at her "Blake got into an accident last night, I'm going with Zack to see him" as soon as those words came out of my mouth she threw her arms around me "Oh sammy, you gave me such a scare. I'll call the school give Zack my prayers for Blake please be safe" she said placing her hands on my face "Don't worry mom, I'm in good hands with Zack, and I'll keep you updated" I said to her walking out of my bedroom, and out the door to jump in Zack's jeep. "Your mom was okay with you coming?" he asked as I threw my back in the backseat "Yeah, I'm with you, she's calling the school" I replied putting on my seat belt. "We'll stop for coffee, we got a 3 hour drive ahead of us" he said pulling out of my driveway.

It was almost noon when we got to our destination Zack's mom had texted him to let him know she had a hotel room booked for us for the night, we decided to drop our stuff off at the hotel first, the room was nice, the bathroom was to the left when you walked in, there was bench behind the door, there was two king sized beds with a night stand in between, a mini fridge dresser with a tv on top at the foot of the beds, desk and chair beside the dresser and a huge window. I claimed the bed closest to the window, Zack got the one closer to the bathroom. "You hungry, we can grab something to eat before heading over to the hospital?" Zack asked as I went to go the washroom "Yeah sure, there's a sandwich place I seen next door" I replied before closing the door. We walked over the parking lot into the sandwich place, I ordered a turkey blt on a croissant, Zack ordered a cold cut on a whole wheat sub bun. We sat down to eat, and made our way to the hospital. I forgot I turned my phone off before heading to school, so turned it back on while we were finding a parking spot at the hospital I had 2 missed calls, and 4 texts one call was from Jess, the other was Lucas First text was from Jess

Hey, please tell me everything is okay?

I decided to text her back first

Hey, yes everything is good Zack and I made it to the hospital I'll text back later with an update.

The other 3 were from Lucas

Hey, where are you?

Hey what is going on?

Sam text me back ..

I didn't text him back not yet anyway, I wanted to text mom

Hey mom, just wanted to let you know Zack's mom got us a hotel room and we made it to the hospital we are going in now, I'll text back soon

I was going to text back Lucas, but right now felt it wasn't important Zack was looking at me he could tell I was thinking "You okay?"  "Yeah, Lucas texted a few times, I was going to text him, but right now this is more important" I said looking at him. Jess must have mentioned I texted her back because my phone went off again, it was Lucas

What the hell Sam, you're just going to ignore me I take it we are not hanging out tomorrow anymore.

At that point I was feeling pretty pissed, I can't believe he's being selfish. I turned my phone off not dealing with that crap right now "Ready?" I asked smiling at Zack he let out a small sigh "Yeah" we walked into the hospital I grabbed Zack's hand to make him feel better, so he knew he wasn't in this alone.

Blake's doctor who was tall with tan skin, black hair and greenish eyes advised Zack his injuries were not life threatening, he had a fractured wrist so had a cast on his left wrist, bruised ribs, and had 14 stitches above his right eyebrow. They wanted to keep him another night to make sure he didn't have a concussion. We were allowed to go see Blake, he was awake, but you could tell he was in pain "Sam, what a surprise" Blake said to me I smiled "Hey Blake, how you feeling?" "I'm okay, but my chest hurts really bad from my ribs" he replied. "My car is totalled, but my insurance is covering it the driver who hit me ran a stop sign, he's okay he was actually in here awhile ago apologizing" he added taking a drink of water." We are staying down the road at a hotel, so you don't need to worry about getting home tomorrow we will be here" Zack advises sitting next to him.I sat on the other chair on the other side of Blake "I'm glad you both came, I'd rather Sam here then mom no offence to mom but I couldn't stand watching her cry right now" Blake said smiling at Zack "Yeah, I understand" Zack replied returning the smile.

We stayed at the hospital for a few hours Zack went downstairs to the cafeteria to get us some coffee "I'm happy you were here for Zack today Sam, it means a lot to me, and means even more to him" Blake said grabbing my hand making me smile "You know I'd do anything for him" "I reply, he returns the smile just as Zack returns with coffee "Thank you" I said grabbing the cup Zack hands out to me.

Visiting hours were over, so we had to leave "We'll be here early in the morning" Zack said as we were walking out of Blake's room "Night" he says to us. We get back to the hotel I grabbed my black pyjama bottoms with gold stars on them and a black sleeping tank top and make my way to the bathroom to change. Zack goes to bathroom once I finish to change as well. He had on black and red plaid pyjama bottoms and a white t shirt. I was sitting on my bed checking my phone I had 4 more texts one from mom

Hey, baby thanks for the update how is Blake doing?

Hey, he's got a fractured wrist, bruised ribs, and had to get 14 stitches above his eyebrow but the doctor said he can go home tomorrow. We are back at the hotel now, I'll text you tomorrow. Night xo

Another text from Jess

Stay safe girly thinking of Zack. Oh heads up Lucas is beyond pissed you took off with Zack I don't know how you planning on dealing with it but Austin told him to chill out. Talk later.

Thanks Jess, I'll handle him when I get home right now Zack and Blake are more important.

I let out a long sigh as I check the other two texts from Lucas

Look, I'm sorry for freaking out, but come on Sam you could have let me know what was going on

Can you please text me

I shake my head as I'm disappointed at how Lucas is behaving right now. Zack sits next to me "Lucas again?" "Yup, I can't deal with him right now" I reply putting my hands over my head "Forget about him right now" he says grabbing a pillow off my bed and hitting me with it, obviously trying to make me feel better which works, I start laughing "Oh, it's on" I said grabbing another pillow and begin hitting him with it we are both rolling around the bed laughing our asses off hitting each other with pillows till we have no energy left. I wasn't done though, I threw my pillow back at the top of the bed, and start tickling him, he rolls on top of me pinning me down tickling near my arm pits which I hate being touched there I was trying to get him off me, but I had no energy at this point we stopped, trying to catch our breath Zack was still sitting on top of me, we locked eyes he was inches from my face I couldn't take my eyes off him he clears his throat "Sorry" he said crawling off me and laying down beside me what the hell just happened I thought to myself. "You want to put a movie on til we fall asleep?" he asked smiling at me "Yeah sure, don't know how long I'll last I'm pretty tired" I replied still looking at him. He gets up to find something to watch I was looking out the window lost in my thoughts. Even with his own plate full, he still wants to see me happy. I was smiling to myself I felt Zack get off the bed, I roll over "You can stay in my bed if you want?" I said smiling at him. "You sure?" he asked  I nod moving over to make room for him. I don't think I got 10 minutes into the movie Zack put on, I don't even know what the movie was called, I didn't ask or really cared I just laid on Zack's chest and passed out.
